Switching account from Steam to Frontier launcher

Hi all, I am willing to buy ED and Horizons expansion directly from the Frontier store. As I already have an account on Steam, is there a possibility that FDev can transfer my CMDR from Steam to FDev launcher ?(of course I will not use the Steam account after the transfer) Has anybody done that? And where I am suppose to write to have this issue performed?

Login to your FD account and download the launcher from your downloadable products, install that and sign in. Job done.

Well, store says that I already own the game, but I can only buy next copy, not download directly.. Or am I doing something wrong?

Looking in the wrong place I would think. Once you've bought the game it should always be available in your Downloads section.

I have bought the game via Steam, does it make a difference?

Yeah it used to be like that.

But when I bought another Alt during the recent sale.
It doesn’t have downloadable products.

It’s been rejigged so that you have to use the steam launcher.

I haven’t actually tried to use the existing frontier launcher with the steam account credentials yet.

But the store knows now if you purchased through steam and you’re locked in.

Happy to be proven to wrong, but that seems to be the new way of the world.

Logged in myself there and I think I see the issue. Apparently you now have to "Unlink from Steam" in the "Third Party Accounts" section. Maybe you always had to and I forgot this step but I *think* they've changed it since last time I looked.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve with it. You can launch ED without Steam, even if you bought it via steam. Only difference would be that Steam gets some money when you buy paintjobs.

Exactly! I just want to give my money to FDev, not to Steam. There are SRV painjobs at a discount which I want to buy.

And I just want to thank FDev for the ED by buying directly from them

I've read somewhere on the forum, that it is possible to move an account from a console to PC, so I thought it also would be possible to switch it from one PC account to another.. And as I mentioned before, it is a way of saying thank you to the FDev for ED. (besides of that my wallet will thank me for not paying Steam their taxes)

Ok for all those guys out there to whom Explorer is only a role in ED:

You can simply go to the directory designated as your steam library with the Windows explorer (or the finder for the Maccies) and drill down until you find EDLaunch.exe. This is your starter portal.

As for buying things: just don't go to the store from in game but just go to frontierstore.net, login and buy whatever you like.
