T10 exploration build?

It's not an exploration build per se, but I took my T-10 to Colonia in 2 days. On the end of the first day I had the neutron jumping finally down without overshooting and taking hours to loop around. The 6A fuelscoop was more than enough to fill up the tank for the next set of neutron jumps. T-10

But for real exploring I use my Phantom or Beluga. Never had an issue with the 6A fuelscoop on the Beluga. I just start to scan the system and the tank is usually full before I'm done with it.

(I like that "F_F_S" shows up as "what are you doing" in the preview)

My now six years old son fell in love with "tank-like" ships and demanded a T-10. As I kinda like the bulkiness too, I went all-out and completely engineered the ship for child use. Meaning able to survive anything, a complete warship. Luckily my son adores revolving guns, so it is all about MCs with added burst laser and a rail for both coolness and special efects.

ANYway, I was kinda surprised to find such a heavy-weight to jump an impressive 35 LYs with a booster, I didn't even use the scoop for visiting engineers. What is it's max range or it's range in a decent exploration build? I tried using Coriolis for the fist time but I'm not sure I'm getting the correct results.
You're very lucky. My kids are so opposed to playing elite I've considered having them DC mine and mat farm as forms of punishment lol

I was never a big fan of the Beluga, it reminded me too much of a Carnival cruise ship(which I know is the point of it). But after seeing some of CMDR Picard's adventures on the "Hermes", I thought I'd give it a shot. SUPER impressed with it. Great jump range, carries all the toys, and definitely channels some "Enterprise" vibes. It's now one of my favorite ships. Plus, having a luxury cabin as my swappable module helps my immersion. When I'm done exploring, I like to picture my crew unwinding in a super-posh study/rec room

And when youre done exploring, you can outfit it for any other role in the game, and it will do great ! :D

Mine has 5k hull, turns on a dime, does 400ms, jumps 30ly, and has teeth ;)

Other than the fact that you just want the T10, it seems like the concept is really "I want a slower turning ship that has a different sound and is more cumbersome to do anything with to use for exploration".

If we could actually have exploration type modules and crew, that would be great. You could go out in the nether regions and set up shop in a T10 (or even a FC eventually) and your crew could work with you to process new discoveries and catalog your journey. But now it is now, you're just out there with a big ass ship that's empty other than your commander sitting there at the helm.

Again, I get the "I just like the ship" aspect.

This is the one I use, yes, gas tank, doubles the jumps I can do (T10 only gets about 5 - 6 jumps) . Works great for me and I have shields and hull because I do stupid things like Canyon Running near Beagle Point ;)

Yes, that is the general idea. Also, it kinda reminds me of the landing ship used in Alien (not the Dropship from Aliens, naturally), big lumbering beast. In normal space it is not completely immobile (still slow enough to give a sense of mass), but in SC even Anaconda seems to be a nimble sparrow compared to T10. Still, with FSS this really is not that big a deal any more so I'd be willing to endure it for the overall feel of the ship, but its jump range really is on the short side nowadays it seems. Considering it brings nothing unique to the table except the looks and that even Krait mk.2 can carry more or less everything and jump 50+LYs...

It will remain my son's flying fortress.

take a look at the build I sent u... my wife uses that build... LOVES IT. She is near Sag* A in it... no designs on return... EVER

Basically the T10 is an old Sealink ferry, like the one that used to ply between Harwich and Hook of Holland.

My previous Cmder almost made it from The Bubble to Colonia in one before getting ganked by the AI 4 jumps from my destination, that was with a 31LY jump range so a bit tedious. I can see the merit in kitting one out for exploration as you could probably carry two or even three of the essential items - vehicle bays, repair modules which you would struggle to get in a smaller ship. Cost wise though, would it work out less than buying and equipping an Anaconda for exploration (or is the "Explora-Conda so yesterday?).
