Most prolific system taggers, yes. but explorers hmmm? to be honest until this update what we considered to be exploration in the past was a bit of an illusion since there really wasn't anything to it that deserved the name 'exploration'--- just jump to a system that you never even had to discover in the first place, press honk, and point your ship at something, and you're done. THAT was "exploration" in a nutshell. Now that the game is no longer simple mode and has discovery gameplay and is more involved and interactive, and has a bit of skill involved, i'm not surprised to see people who liked the simplistic tag-all approach leave. the best explorers this game will ever see will be born out of this update.
Now you just jump to a system you never even had to discover in the first place, press honk, and point your scanner at something, and you're done. THIS is "exploration" in a nutshell. Now the game is more fiddly with the pointing and has something disguised as gameplay which is more convoluted and opaque, and has no more intellectual skill involved.
Real(tm) explorers that care about using skill and really discovering things won't even put a no-skill FSS on their ship. They'll use parallax to discover bodies like real astronomers and fly over and claim them by mapping them with the DSS. Yes, I tried this... it works, you get detailed scan and surface scan credit when you sell the data. I will say that it was a bit weird working with a stealth planet.
