Up to now I've been switching graphics mode to 2860x1440 and taking standard screenshots (setting this screen mode sets the mode for what's on the monitor, it doesn't affect the HMD). This results in a 1920x1080 maximum screenshot, unfortunately. It's alright for a picture to go with a story on Inara.cz, and doing this works fine for taking video, but it doesn't really make "keepers".
For the first time I tried the 4K screenshot option last night - I went into solo, and did Alt-F10.
While this resulted in an enormous bitmap image, it was not very high quality. The image was only about 1/4 of the area of the bitmap, and it was "jaggy" - it looked like the pure output of the normal monitor defaults.
Is there any way - short of turning off VR and restarting the game - of getting a decent quality screenshot if you're using an HMD? I'm using the Oculus DK2 and most recent Oculus software.
Also is there any way of making the monitor window settings "stick"? If I set the display to 2860x1440, if I relaunch the game it will initially start with that setting then resize back to the small size again. I've found no way of making the monitor window setting permanent.
