Thargoid Challenge Level

I posted something similar but it got killed because I phrased the post in a way that apparently upset people.

Version 2

FDEV, for the average PVP skill level player. How much of a challenge can we except the Thargoids to be?

Will there be any way to rank up their difficulty, should we find them a walk over. Without having to self nerf our ship builds?

You even manage to make pve posts somehow about pvp.

While I respect the skill of many pvpers, and even some griefers, they are far from the only good combat pilots playing elite.

I want to have to work out their tactics, I don't want there to be an 'I win' weapon or loadout.

Personally I think Thargoids should be like dungeon bosses in a typical MMO. This means that only the 'god ships' (ultra-engineered Corvettes) can beat them one-on-one, barely. The rest of us should either need to wing up - like a typical 4 person raid party, or avoid them altogether.

Oh bring me that, PLEASE!!!! I really am not going to expect it though, I don't know if I could handle the disappointment, so I am setting my expectations low.

Given the middling consistency of such mechanics (instancing), I doubt they are willing or able to go down such a road.

The lack of dedicated servers continue to remove interesting options from the field of serious consideration, IMO.

I just want to know... If a fully prepared Aegis wing WITH anti Thargoid weapons got PASTED by a single flower ship, how is anyone on their own supposed to survive? Even without ridiculous hesitation (in the military if you open fire, you don't stop until you are SURE your target is incapacitated, and if there's any doubt, you reload and fire again) by those amateurs.

The only possibility I can see (short of making Flower Ships world bosses or Raid content) is that they will tell us that this particular pasting resulted in a new shield technology and now they are about as threatening as an NPC with a set of pulse lasers. Which will be unfortunate, but not unforgivable. Noobs with no mates gotta shoot da aliens too, ya know?

They've had enough time to develop different ships, not just Thargoid massive ships. I hope there will be choices for commanders in sidewinders to attack, and the capability to bug out if you're face to face with a larger craft.

as any other NPC their difficulty will be scaled to your current ship and combat-rating. (and with some minor RNG applied).

so noob gets the the easy Thargoid, and Elite-Combat in Cutter gets the mothership, no matter that he's fitted for trading...

no surprises here...

I heard that Thargoid technology can hack into a module dependent on how much of it's integrity was compromised by making use of engineers who went beyond the manufactorer's specs. The extensive engineering means the Thargoids can target and overheat the compromised module causing damage to it and the ship itself.

You know...I know you (probably) mean that in jest, but I like that idea! Suddenly, the more heavily Engineered your ship, the more vulnerable you are!
