Thargoid Data Gathering Effort: We need your help!

They have attacked a few capital ships and megaships. I had the misfortune to spawn next to a thargoid while carrying a probe and a sensor. I thought I could outrun it and failed. The burning megaships are eerie. You can here people tapping (which is weird in a vacuum)

Yeah, your ship is nowhere near fast enough to out run them! ;), they travel at about 450-460 m/s. I wanted to take my Python to the Pleiades, but with a boost speed of ~445 it doesn't quite cut it. You got unlucky on the fsd malfunction though :(, but you should've dumped your Thargoid tech. It might have left you alone then.

Before the 24.01 update you could lure Thargoids into a station. You probably still can if you have a ship that is fast enough and tough enough to survive 15 minutes chase.

I want to lure one to sisters refuge so I can see how they interact with asteroids

The video is a bit long but make sure you watch me die at the end. The Thargon attack is most impressive

Can you get it to save the goid logo along with the hyperdiction/nhss data? Collating these might tell give us meaningful information about the markings.

The image on the contact screen might be easy to convert into a key so that the images can be categorised.

I wont be able to upload the image but I might be able to write an algorithm to recognise them

You can report using the form that LCU added to the plugin, using that tool you can attach the logo ID from the chart to the report if you want to help data gathering on the front. There's no specific need to gather the actual photo of the icon since they've all been catalogued so far, and if your logogram doesn't appear to be on the chart, the form allows you to submit a screenshot.

During the last days, I try-tested and observed a few things:

1. I went to a system where I had a lot NHSS before and switched of all systems, except Power Plant, Thrusters, Frameshift Drive and Sensors. When I dropped into the NHSS, I immediately activated 'Silent Run'. It didn't work. The Thargoid approched and scanned me as usuall.
2. When the Thargoid approaches your ship in order to scan it, you can push or pull him around while he tries to keep a constant distance to you.
3. At one time, I dropped into a NHSS with no green fog, but a giant field of debris. I turned the Thargoid angry and accelerated backwards while he deployed his drones. The drones then collided with the debris and I saw a lot of green splashes around him. I was very supprised and sadly not fast enough to check, if those drones had kiled themself. When I tired to target them, the Thargoid had allready started to move away.
4. I once encountered a very dump Thargoid. He found a damaged Escape Pod and tried pull it to his ship ... through the hull of a destroyed corvette [big grin]. He pulled and pulled and pulled ... and after roughly 10 seconds the pod came around one side of the corvette. That was funny to watch.
5. Just a few minutes back, I had my third interdiction. Not shure, if this is of interest, but before I continued my journey, I checked where I was: It was the system from which I wanted to jump away, but almost 21.000 LS away from the central (and only) star in that system.

Did you log the Hyperdictions? it's really helpful to the data gathering effort since Hyperdictions are fairly rare and info on each one is useful. Here's the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeQyYdpD79L7v0qL6JH09cfPZw_7QJ_3d526jweaS92VmK-ZQ/viewform and you can also use the EDMC plugin (a few posts above) which would also be amazing :)

Can you remember where you were when hyperdicted?

You could've cut 3/4 of that video out :p, anyway, wow that was a swift end for you!!
PS You need to watch your pips more ;)

I'm really pleased to announce that I have completed the new release of USS survey.

As well as automatically logging USS and Hyperdictions it will also allow you to click through to the manual forms with some of the details pre-filled. This makes it a doddle to enter manual details, ever someone as lazy as me will fill in the manual forms if they use the plugin.

You can download the plugin from here

To install, just remove the previously installed directory, the unzip the latest release into your plugins directory.

Please could you report any issues on Github.
Cool :), going to try it in a moment.

Looks very cool! Especially the patrol thing
One minor thing, you could say Cmdr instead of user ;)

If I disable send system & scan data in EDMC will that stop the sending of USS data too? And if so, I'd have disable the same in EDDi, in which case is there any point me having it? For the visible journal I guess?

All three hyperdictions logged by the App are jumps that are moving towards Merope. Coincidence?

Unfortunately the manually entered spreadheet does not automatically calculate distances and I'm too busy doing other things to work it out. We need more data :)

No the USS data is captured by the plugin so you can turn off EDSM notifications in EDMC. However it might result in some missing coordinates as I get them off EDSM in some circumstances.

Well it would be sent by EDDi anyway, although I have disabled it in EDDi anyway.

How do you get the Patrol system showing in it?
Hmm, my NHSSs don't seem to be showing up on the sheet, how do I know it's working?
(Btw, could you hide your video in spoiler tags? For some reason it's really slowing down loading times of this page for me ;)).

God this took me ages to find! Doesn't seem to be in the main Tgoids threads, anyway Lexigram chart v3

*******************************************************

Has anyone ever seen an NHSS at a system with no scoopable stars?

And is it me or have the Thargoids much more bite recently?? In just 2 attacks (where I'm picking up escape pods), I've lost 35% hull on my FDL!

The patrol system should show when you jump and when you drop a link should appear.

A few people are reporting problems. I'll investigate

Ok I've fixed it now, turns out the plugin wasn't working at all, I posted my fix on github, but all it was is that the folders were double packed, so when extracting the plugin it extracted another folder into the plugin folder & so it didn't work. So I deleted the folder it added to EDCM & went into the USS survey zip folder & extracted the files from within the 2nd folder, seems to work now :), it's showing the patrol route now, although I haven't tested it in game yet.

Weird, despite you hiding the videos now, this page still freezes up a bit after initially loading (windows warns IE isn't responding due to a long running script from Frontier).

Thx for fixing the EDMC-plugin @LCU!

Now it works like a charm. Patrolling feature is a good idea and the link to the form and auto-filling all works. All tested. Great stuff!

[...]

As you mention this, maybe you are on about something...

Just cruised out to a patrolling point and did fly past several M-Stars, all had NHSS. Then I came into a system with 5 T-Tauri stars, otherwise empty, and: no singel NHSS. hm.

Worth further investigation then :).

Though it's also worth bearing in mind that a NHSS requires (currently) human ships (except for probes around ammonia worlds), since they are all human convoys that have been apparently attacked.

So there will some bias because where humans aren't there won't be NHSS (presumably)

I think that might be the reason why there's much fewer NHSS spawns in systems on the edge of the shell.

I also wonder if that's why there aren't NHSS around the other areas where barnacles grow.
