Thargoid Data Gathering Effort: We need your help!

LCU I'm using the new EDMC plugin of yours, it's looking good.

One thing for me is that it gives you the patrol area, and says "scan planet ABC 3C" or wherever, but, when you arrive in that system the patrol route has changed to a different system and planet.

Would it be possible to make it (somehow) display the current patrol data in sort of a sticky until dismissed maybe? Like have a button saying "next patrol" instead of auto-updating?

Wow! So in the system I'm currently in (Mel 22 Sector YP-F b11-1), which is 143.41 LYs from Merope, it took 20mins before an NHSS showed up! And it was only the 2nd USS of any kind to show up.
All that is here is a Thargoid sensor.

Yep I've found that the closer you are to the shell boundary the rarer the NHSS are. For me I've found that boundary is 144ly and you were just on that edge.

I'm not sure if that's significant in terms of the actual spread of Thargoids or if it just means there's less/no human convoys to be attacked.

There's a single NHSS in the auto report spreadsheet at 145.41 LYs found by Arkardi Krevan, I've just broken my personally record & found 1 at 144.68 LYs, it took 25 mins to show up! (3-4 degraded USSs showed up beforehand, so it's not like it's a deserted system). At least this system had plenty of bodies to scan :), the previous 1 only had 3 stars :p.

Atm I'm in a system that's 149.99 LYs from Merope! Lol, what are the chances of stumbling across 1 at that distance!? ;). Anyway, later on I'm going to hang out there for at least 1/2hr, to see if they do show up beyond 145 LYs! Wish me luck! They aren't that many bodies to scan there :p.

See if you can beat 145.41 LYs! ;)[blah]

That's planned for the next release. It will be like the Alien Sites plugin you will be able to dismiss it or postpone it. It will have an exit questionaire so you can say whether you completed the mission. If you mark it completed then it wont be offered to another commander.

Oh yeah! Lmao, I'd not been up long! ;)

LCU
I've finally remembered to find out what was causing my EDMC processes to not shut off, it turns out that it only does it when your plugin is running with it. Scrnshot below.

As you can see from the scrnshot EDMC isn't running, yet there are 7 processes still running! lol, I've just discovered that each time I run it & close it, it creates & leaves another process.
Any ideas? :) Running Win 7 64bit, rig spec in sig.
And just to re-iterate, to get your plugin to work I have to put your plugin files directly into the plugin folder, otherwise it doesn't work. I don't know if the location of these files is related to the problem, but I thought I'd better mention it again, as I'm not sure if you noticed my previous posts about it.
Btw, do you want to carry on this conversation here or in github?

Could you raise it in Github. I'm can't understand why its acting like that USS-Survey does not have any multi-threading. You should probably consider uninstalling EDMC and re-installing with the plugin in the proper place.

I figured out what was causing the extra processes a couple of lines of code inherited from a multi-threaded plugin . A new release is ready for download.

Nice :)

Btw EDMC isn't running multiple processes, it's just not shutting the 1 process down when it's shutting down. So before I was fully aware of this I wasn't manually closing the process, hence ending up with many.

Do you know why the plugin isn't working when I have it within the survey folder within the plugin folder?

Ok so I've been in Mel 22 sector ZU-P C5-3 (which is 149.99 LYs from Merope) for 30 mins, & so far just 1 degraded USS, which came at dead on 30 mins from entering SC!
I'll stay for another 10 mins & then I've got to bunker down for the night.
[update] Another degraded USS at dead on 40 mins, I'm intrigued now, I would stay another 20mins to see if an NHSS turns up, but I gotta sleep! Oh well...
46 mins now, nothing further.

Just the default files, think I'll re-install EDMC later & see if that fixes it.

When you install EDMC, the plugin directory is empty. What is confusing is that there is another plugins directory that has internal plugins like edsm.py and eddb.py

If those two are in your plugins directory then you have installed in the wrong place

New record! Congrats Morales :).

My EDMC has only 1 plugin directory, and that's where I put in your plugin, as per the instructions. Are you saying that your plugin should be installed into the the main edmc folder and not the plugin one? That might explain the problems ;)

No. EDMC wants plugins in a competely different directory from the one you installed it.

Go to the settings menu. There is a plugins tab. It should give you the directory where the plugins should go. I'm guessing it is different from where you have put them.

EDMC loads all plugins it finds in it's plugins folder. You can easily find this on your system via the Plugins tab of the Settings window.

Plugins are loaded when EDMC starts up.

Each plugin has it's own folder in the plugins directory:

Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\EDMarketConnector\plugins
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/EDMarketConnector/plugins
Linux: $XDG_DATA_HOME/EDMarketConnector/plugins, or ~/.local/share/EDMarketConnector/plugins if $XDG_DATA_HOME is unset.

Ah I see where I went wrong now, I read the 1st line, this Download the latest release, open the archive (zip) and extract the folder to your EDMC plugin folder., but I didn't really read beyond that & thought it meant EDMCs main folder, my bad, sorry about that .
I had originally installed your plugin into EDMCs main folder>plugins in program files. I've now moved it to the right one in appdata/local/EDMC/plugins & it works ok :), but it still doesn't shut down the process after it's closed! Lol, I'll try a re-install later on.

Right, I've been in Mel 22 sector ZU-P C5-3 for 1hr 17 mins now (that'll do!), only degraded USSs are turning up.
Damn! Gotta beat 146.52 LYs! ;)
