Thargoid Interactions

This could be the result of a quirk/bug in the scripted event, but here goes anyway just in case.

While jumping from Suluo to Witch Head Sector FB-X C1-8 a Hyperdiction occured; three Cyclopses.
I was in my AX Krait, so the shutdown pulse was negated. The primary Cyclops went into alert as per usual, deployed thargons in a defensive posture and went in for the scan - just as the two companion Cyclopses moved to leave.
During the primary's scan of my Krait, I deployed hardpoints and scanned it in return.

Nothing unusual there.
Since I needed to hit my quota for the CG, why not take it down? -And unloaded gauss cannons into the Cyclops.

Here is where things changed.
It decided to take the hits and just leave; the thargon swarm was taken back in and it just moved to wake out, losing two petals in the process.

I've triggered dozens of Hyperdictions and love-tapped one or two of them into aggression by accident about 1½ years ago.
This "ima just leave" reaction was new to me, however.

The "Repel the Thargoid attack in the Witch Head Nebula" CG was at Tier 3 of five during this hyperdiction.

There is basically a moment where if you haven't aggro'd the interceptor by then. It will just turn around and leave no matter what you do.
I used this method to finally achieve my non finding of raxxla by attaching a research limpet to a commited to jump intercepter following a hyperdiction.

Everyone told me nothing would happen.
Deep down i knew they were right.
When i finally did it, nothing happened.

I did it for science and stupidity, in equal measures

Searched forums, guess this is good a place as any. Wanted to share a screenshot after a Thargoid battle. I had never seen this and just wanted to pass it along should it be significant.

If I drove up to it, It would pass right through me.

So are Hyperspace Interdictions actually the thargoids actively interdicting people, or is it more of a "hyperspace crash" due to using two different hyperspace technologies that don't have matching safety guards? I've read that having sensors means more hyperdictions; maybe Thargoid sensors are used remotely by Thargoids as some sort of triangulation mechanism, and the more you have, the more likely it is you'll make your own triangle centered on you, causing a hyperspace collision?

Once you have had a Thargoid sensor on board your ship or SRV you are "marked", then you have an approx 20% chance of being hyperdicted in any system in the Thargoid mini bubbles even if not carrying one.

If you destroy interceptors, it is not reflected in the game.
But if an interceptor intercepts you, it is recorded in the game, in the statistics of the pilot.

I agree, thought i do not see what point you are making? You do not get sensors from destroying or being hyperdicted by thargoids, you have lost me.

Look at your stats inside the game. Where the Targoids are marked.
Mate, when are you actually on about? I know all about the stats, and where to find them.
You seem to be posting about something totally different? Your posts make no sense that i can make out.
Someone posted about sensors, i supplied some hopefully usefull infomation, you then went off on a tangent.

Yes I was not quite right as my reply was sort of to your message. Actually I was responding to :
I was trying to show that killing targoids in the game does not mean anything, but the interception is something significant and they are particularly marked in the game.

So killing Thargoids in the game means nothing? 😂😂
I suppose fixing the damaged stations after they get rinsed means nothing as well?

Wow.

I was listening to the in game information base about the Guardian AI people and wondered, what if that AI merged with the Thargoids? It might explain the complete hostility Thargoids show towards anything Guardian, but lack towards non-hostile humans.

It's not impossible. It with also fit with the stories about the Oresrians and Klaxians.
The Oresrians are described as almost AI like. Calculating and emotionless.
The Klaxians are described as plain aggressive. They may have rejected the AI?

Not going to lie: I near back-loaded my pantaloons just now.

I've been on again off again from the game, and have only been back for a few months. I've been more seriously looking into engineering and the Guardian tech. Have not yet seen a Thargoid. UNTIL NOW.

Thing is, I had been rescuing people from the Oracle at Delphi using my brand new Corvette (not worth the time for the money involved, but was looking for a way to make Robigo level money in a 'vette (this ain't it)), and I saw a mission about destroying Thargoids. Thought to myself, "why not look into it? You haven't seen one yet, maybe it's time to hunt one down?" But I knew you needed special weapons to do it. So I jumped to Asterope to get back to my AspX to make the trip to go buy them, and then realized I should probably look it up where to buy them. I looked into where to get the AX weapons, and saw that the system I had just left (Delphi) had them, so I went to jump back.

I wasn't even really paying attention when the problem started. My COVAS told me there was an instability while I was in witchspace, and I started to panic, because I never saw a load screen interrupted like this before. I came out of it, and as I was turning to see what was on my radar, everything went dead. I was looking frantically, and couldn't see what it was. I was convinced I was being targeted and there were torpedoes about to blow me away. I have the rebuy, but I'm not eager to lose my first vette just yet. Once my systems finally came back on line, I will freely admit I boosted out of there like my hair was on fire and my backside was catching, and as my FSD was charging, I managed to catch a glimpse of something out of my starboard window, but just as I realized it wasn't actually firing on me, I jumped again.

So I have officially witnessed a Thargoid first hand, and consider myself lucky to have lived to tell the tale. I see from several people's YouTube videos that Thargoids don't always attack, so I feel a little stupid now for not having at least stood my ground to see it up close, but it was something in the 4 years of playing this game that I had never encountered, and it was the very thing I was on my way to arm myself against, so I guess I panicked.

I have a FSD booster in my ship, was that what attracted them? Was it the fact I was rescuing their victims? Can the game read my mind?

Thanks for reading, and for whatever input/advice you have to offer.

Thargoid Hyperdictions normally only occur after carrying a Thargoid sensor aboard your ship for any length of time.

However during incursions they can occur in the Thargoid hotspots regardless

If you do not wish to engage in combat with them, simply allowing them to shut you down and do their scan will not elicit hostility - however if you are looking to fight them, there are ways to make this happen ;)

Here is a guide I made a while back on the subject of Hyperdictions - might be of help even if only to provide insight ;)

Thanks for that! I made myself face my fear and went and stalked a NHSS and got a scan of a Cyclops. 50,000 credits? Wow. Underwhelming reward for risking my ship, but oh well. I will be taking my first shot at one of them sometime soon, using that guide as my shield. Thanks again!

Hi all, I am quite new to the game and during one of my first exploration trip I have discovered some Thargoids barnacles.
Is it safe to land and to do a tour around them with my SRV ?
