Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Tried 2 class 6 CRCR's in Col 285 Sector KB-O c6-2 which is 23.53 Ly from Thor. No spire or counterstrike activity
  • 0.00 start warprogress
  • 221 scythe samples collected. 2 scouts and 2 scythes eliminated
  • 0.033893 end warprogress
Now to put the racks to use for matters other than sampling

Small update - finally got a carrier slot at the main star in TH-C b13-0, as far as the discount park & ride effort.
Will go try out those new cargo racks for a bit, half-done already is nice though.

The class 6 cargo pair is very nice! Our full wing has both, and boosting Col 285 Sector JG-O c6-3 yesterday took around three-fifths of the time it would have needed before. We went with six extra Research limpets rather than three or four, although a solo Commander may want to favour more cargo.

If the payload for Col 285 Sector IG-O c6-15 is still short a bit this evening then I will see if we can complete it, where timing may be decided a bit by upcoming peripheral systems wanting attention. Definitely the Titan-adjacent cavity idea seemed very popular at M. Indra!

All in all the racks and ship worked pretty well, me falling asleep with ~22 limpets to go and waking up to the rebuy screen, decidedly less so.

Work calls my side so will be offline but, don't feel obligated - i should be around on the weekend and ~208 CR cargo a run, should be easy enough to finish up.
Partly seeing how much activity there still is/how many folk prefer it my side still, whether sniping some systems like 20489 as cleared prior or JA-G b11-e is practical as a smaller push to smooth the path.

(thanks to Simas01235 for taking time earlier in the week on the recon migraine, sorry i went firmly for Defend, taking out invasions primarily, Then attack to avoid latter things getting more difficult, so the first few days aren't making much use of it)

Bonne chance, hopefully things can keep rolling as the week gets in gear.

Where I would find some commanders to complete ax combat zone?
Any places / systems / bodies / attacked stations with high probability to fight against thargoids along side other commanders?

This evening at least, try HIP 18075! Svavarsson Relay has been reactivated and is under attack, and one can fight there with restock available, which ought to make it a natural target.

Well, didn't last very long from there. There should still be the two invasions at Chibis(Cocijo) and Koko Oh(Raijin) for at least tomorrow/today, even if those are outpost attacks rather than planetary conflicts. Otherwise I'd refer to AXI targets around Thor (if possible). And I have a bunch of other text I would like to write into this post but I am constantly met with nonsensical "Oops we encountered an error, check the browser console you don't know how to access on your laptop" whenever it's more than three lines of text.

Invicta now at 7689 of the projected 7648, jump complete, offloading. Worst case 4 days is enough time for top-up runs.
-- Deliveries complete at 10:19UTC.

Next moving to Col 285 Sector HF-G b11-2, to begin sampling for Col 285 Sector JA-G b11-3.
Estimated strength is 6525, buy order will be for 7k samples. Shall arrive approx 10:48UTC.

Will do some ad-hoc to finish off IG-O, seems 7689 was not quite there.

Looks like 7689 moved it from 0.002656 yesterday evening to 0.934381 now, suggesting an actual strength of 8253, so definitely something has changed and we need a couple more measurements. That is the strongest possible interpretation of definitely, because Col 285 Sector IG-O c6-15 itself was one of the exact systems we used in week 78 to determine the linear strength originally!

Our toys are still lurking around there, so we could run another ~625 this afternoon I think.

Additional: If the prior actually was 0.006278 since this morning, the actual strength should be 8285.

Carrier new position was only ~33Ly away so hopped back over, 154 gathered and i'll be directly jumping to/from rescue ship, will get another before and after measure and work on things in the background - conda still runs cold enough that it can get by with 0 scout kills.

-- Delivery made, double checked numbers on arrival as its been an hour, make sure nothing shifted.
Will gather while I'm here, then see how things look in an hour.

approx 0.0018593 for 154 samples**

The deficit was 564 and a delivery with 156 should leave 410; that will fit entirely within one drop, and I can hear Scouts arriving now!

Additional: Closing in upon 410 collectively! Consider it delivered before 1400, which should then show victory momentarily after.

Additional additional: 434 has been delivered, with no Thargoids destroyed in the process.

143 more delivered my side, was just about to turn around and get the warprogress numbers.

Well, all's well that ends well, had been happy to solo it to get the progress numbers nailed down with no risk of overlap or scouts.

Following that nice clean test at Col 285 Sector IG-O c6-15 and now also a not-quite-so-clean test at Col 285 Sector NG-E b12-4, our empty Control strengths are updated to use the junctions 8326 at 5 Ly and 5734 at 50 Ly. That is a deliberate slight overestimation for the gradient based on a reasonable projection for how much progress was not caused by our delivery; unfortunately that is around the best we can do without moving away from M. Thor.

Mind that the populated Control strengths have not been checked at all; the previous junctions since week 79 were 12804 at 5 Ly and 8700 at 50 Ly, but please expect those to need testing again!

Impact for @Grimscrub:
  • The present projection for Col 285 Sector JA-G b11-3 is now 7110.
  • Having at least 34% progress already though, one should need at most 4693, and falling as Spire and Rescue progress helps it of course!

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand. Why does the dynamic change of state of the system work only in one direction?
People beat the system, let's say that its state will not change for another 3 days (I have it written like this), but what about the Thargoids? Are they waiting for Thursday too ?

I think that is answered best in reverse order:

Officially, both Commanders and Thargoids must wait for Thursday for anything to change:
  • Thargoids cannot attack anything until Thursday, and indeed they can not attack that system again until Thursday plus four weeks.
  • Humans do not gain access to the completed system until Thursday, during which ports remain abandoned and Fleet carriers may not arrive.
    • If populated, the Recovery state also blocks Fleet carriers—again, something which only actually changes on Thursday.
  • For the purpose of Titan vulnerability, nothing changes until Thursday.
Despite a few minor changes occurring mid-week, for the most part everything still must await Thursday before actions in the previous week have any appreciable effect.

Why does the dynamic change of state of the system work only in one direction?

Convenience, and due to Frontier preferring Commanders not to waste any war activity upon systems which are complete¹. The mid-week changes for a complete system are:
  • No hyperspace destabilisation when jumping to it.
  • No Thargoid interdictions.
  • No Frame Shift anomalies.
  • No port attacks or conflict zones.
  • Info panel victory message.
  • Comms panel victory message.
  • Spire progress no longer applies.
So you can jump safely through the system, and you are prevented² from trying to fight Thargoids in the system—but most of those are very minor compared to the full war, and have no direct war effect until Thursday! The biggest actual war effect is the Spire progress, which was much more recent and allowed us to clear M. Indra much more sensibly than planned prior to that.

1. As stated by Derin at Frontier during Frameshift Live #24.
2. Hyperspace summoning by jumping to a nearby Control system should still work, of course.

I know what you mean.
1. But why on the map itself do not remove the lilac arrows and other icons ?
2. Again I do not understand why in some places there are lilac arrows and there victory - Thargoids will retreat in 3 days. And in some places the same thing but the lilac arrow is not.
3. Where is Tor control and invasion ?

I do not like the application of the word dynamics to this. I would rather apply the word here - Stopping Progress.

The direct reason is that such icons only change on Thursday along with the system changing state—although removing the Counterstrike icon actually is a quite good idea! More practically, I think it would be best if the Galaxy map had an option to make victory system information appear or disappear.

And in some places the same thing but the lilac arrow is not.

There is nothing stopping Commanders from winning a normal system, as we did at Col 285 Sector IG-O c6-15! The Counterstrikes mean only that there are additional ways to help complete a system, not that only those systems can be completed.

Where is Tor control and invasion ?

The only Invasion system at M. Thor was Almar and it has has been defended already. It has 87 Control systems all around it though, minus the seven evicted thus far this week! Each of those purple Counterstrikes is at a Control system; it is best to help those, especially the ones with much progress already such as Col 285 Sector EA-Q c5-4 at present.

Dynamic was your word for it, although indeed it makes much progress beholden to the Thursday cycles! In particular, it would be nice if victory in Control systems can make a Titan become vulnerable mid-week.

I know what you mean. But personally, it's hard for me to keep track of it all outside of the game. I just choose on the map on the left, the best systems 5: the closest system to me, fly and perform AXCZ there.
