Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Why has the titan gone into orbit over Earth? The administrative capital is Mars. Earth is basically a nature reserve at this point, isn't it?

Is it bad that I kind of want us to lose this one? Don't get me wrong, I want it to be a bloody good fight, and I'm planning to get stuck in as much as possible, but ultimately I feel that narratively we need humanity to fail at some point.
It's the Existential Threat Plot, and Frontier is going to run with it as long as they can.

Except with their ever great balancing there is actually no particular threat, everything seems like it will just end up cleared out long before the Titan gets to do anything or there is a remote threat of losing any of the affected system. And if they don't actually do anything drastic, everything will just merrily pass through an automatic repair cycle and move on like absolutely nothing ever happened.

For an "event" that they kept setting up for for months and made seem like the absolute greatest fight of the Thargoid/Titan War it's sitting at a solid 0/10 for me right now, and I'm probably just going to read a book instead of bothering to defend the one system that I care for in the attacked ones (it's not Sirius). If the bar is set so low that the players don't even need to try, what's the point? Of course I'll be keeping an eye on how things actually process which might motivate me to get involved (or if I'm simply in the mood to go shoot some Thargoids, which could as well happen), but I'm currently... not too impressed.

At least it doesn't yet look as if the numbers are set so low that there is already a defeated invasion on Thursday evening/early Friday. Or Frontier already added another zero somewhere but I was almost expecting Procyon to be almost done. But can we just let the Thargoids backhand Sirius, ok?

I don't think Frontier would have put pre-built AX and rescue ships in the store, unless they intended for this event to run for a long time.
Perhaps, or they all along planned to keep the Thargoid content running post-Titans (because why would they just take it all out of the game?).

I’ll be convinced of this when anything interesting does happen. If it does. Compared to the buildup… I’m not really feeling it. Feels tame when you look at it in comparison to Shinrarta so far.

Earth has the classic "save humanity" trope, to attract new players
Might be, but Thargoid content’s not exactly the most beginner friendly (even with Frontier selling those ARX prebuilts)…

… and it would be less worse if we actually had any means of looking into this supposed goal of the Thargoids intruding into humanity’s home system which Frontier have hinted at but don’t seem to drop anything in the game itself for. Like they just want us to think about it but don’t appear to provide anything for the players who’d like to look into a/the mystery instead of [just] evacuation or AX gameplay.

I feel a bit let down, I don't know why but I expected something more today but it's all been a bit 'meh'. I think a trip to the black is in order.....

Frontier did a lot of setup but this definitely isn’t really throwing punches out. Just feels like a few slightly unordinary invasions (in that they will only last a week before capture) with a little extra strength behind them. And it’s not even that significantly more difficult on an individual basis.

After months of waiting for this it’s just a bit… eh. Maybe some of those invasions will carry over into next week as controls but unless the rules have changed to allow them to attack immediately, or the Titan keeps applying pressure by pushing out new controls and/or a few invasions each week (with less regard to distance than prior), I’m not sure this will be much different or last very long.

In open its a little Hardcore at Hardwick and I am by no means new to AX. (same at Schade).
I suspect Gankers outside the station, as after 4 rebuys, each time suddenly I went from 95% to 12% just scanning a Cyclops or Hydra to show the hearts, and think they (gankers/greifers, call them what you want) don't finish you off, but let the intense Tharg fire finish you, as each time I was killed by 'Unknown'.

Going back to solo unfortunately, so that I can get the Mat rewards for a few hits in each Invasion system for when it eventually goes down.

NOTE to new players, in case you don't know this - no need to try again and again in one system as it can work out VERY expensive, as after rebuy just go to another Invasion/Alert/control system and shoot some scouts in a CZ/Station/etc - when the system is eventually cleared, you get the mat rewards in addition to the realtime Cr rewards for each kill.

My biggest problem with this sudden move is not what Cocijo has done, but why FDEV had it do it now. The Thargoids lose 7 out 8 of Titans (and all spires sites) they deployed during their invasion. They've had millions of human hostages since the start of that two year invasion. But now, as the last of the Titans was poised to fall, they scrape data from Seo-Jinn (sp?) and suddenly head for birthplace of humanity?!

This entire invasion doesn't make sense - and please spare me the "alien intelligence thinks differently" bit; that can justify some, but not all of this. Two years of losing most of their force and now they go for our homeworld? Only the last Titan moves instead of waiting for it's descrtuction?

If, as some have speculated, the move was due to "something the Thargoids are looking for" has now been determined to be in the Sol system... again, I can only go with that so much. They scraped Seo's mind, not Admiral Tannner.

No, the whole Thargoid invasion, and this last desperate move, seems to be for only one person - introducing gameplay for players without severely impacting the bubble. I'm not impressed.

I do hope there is still some Thargoid content somewhere but... I don't know. The stuff I always enjoyed (doing the AX restoration missions behind enemy lines) was always very limited in availablity.

I would/will be more impressed if they do some bigger reveals. For example, if they clearly publicize that the first batch of Thargoids (which haphazardly attacked random stations) were trying to provoke and prepare us so the the other faction (which they are war with) would bring a major fleet down on us and get it smashed, thus giving the first group an edge in their factional war. Otherwise, this is just... meh.

i haven't had time yet to login today post-update , but i'm wondering if anyone has checked SOL system ( or any of the current "invaded" systems shown here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/post-10501470 ) to see if maybe some new 'ground spire sites' are up ?

Maybe it's somehow related or setting up something to do with eventual 'Colonization' feature?

i've only been playing EliteDangerous for like 7 months so i'm not familiar with all the lore & persons & history , but perhaps Seo is friends with Felicity Farseer and the Thargoids used mind-meld on Seo to get info about.....RAXXLA ?!?!?!

Sorry but what are "AX restoration missions" exactly? Do you mean what newbs like me just discovered for my 1st time here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/post-10491608 ... Or are you referring to longlost content that can't be done anymore?

i personally think a GROUND war surprise return of the 'Guardans' , using existing Odyssey FPS code combined with new Thargoid/Humanoid captured combo creatures, would be super fun.
But yeah i guess we'll all find out next week the hype lives up to the hurt. 👾
