Lore: I'm guessing Mars' planetary defense network might be a concern. Why has the titan gone into orbit over Earth? The administrative capital is Mars. Earth is basically a nature reserve at this point, isn't it?
Hutton Orbital. And this is serious, not one of those bad jokes.... it's been attacked... and is on fireAll I want to know is which star port should I be defending.
I prefer the pew pew
It's the Existential Threat Plot, and Frontier is going to run with it as long as they can.Is it bad that I kind of want us to lose this one? Don't get me wrong, I want it to be a bloody good fight, and I'm planning to get stuck in as much as possible, but ultimately I feel that narratively we need humanity to fail at some point.
Also known as the colonization update.Although I have reported you to the nearest Commissar for heresy, having billions displaced if it all goes wrong would be a great push for humans to do a Scattering a la Dune.
Except with their ever great balancing there is actually no particular threat, everything seems like it will just end up cleared out long before the Titan gets to do anything or there is a remote threat of losing any of the affected system. And if they don't actually do anything drastic, everything will just merrily pass through an automatic repair cycle and move on like absolutely nothing ever happened. It's the Existential Threat Plot, and Frontier is going to run with it as long as they can.
Perhaps, or they all along planned to keep the Thargoid content running post-Titans (because why would they just take it all out of the game?).I don't think Frontier would have put pre-built AX and rescue ships in the store, unless they intended for this event to run for a long time.
That was a deliberate shot at the old players. "You can't hide from our screenplay".Feels tame when you look at it in comparison to Shinrarta so far.
Might be, but Thargoid content’s not exactly the most beginner friendly (even with Frontier selling those ARX prebuilts)…Earth has the classic "save humanity" trope, to attract new players
Frontier did a lot of setup but this definitely isn’t really throwing punches out. Just feels like a few slightly unordinary invasions (in that they will only last a week before capture) with a little extra strength behind them. And it’s not even that significantly more difficult on an individual basis.I feel a bit let down, I don't know why but I expected something more today but it's all been a bit 'meh'. I think a trip to the black is in order.....
My biggest problem with this sudden move is not what Cocijo has done, but why FDEV had it do it now. The Thargoids lose 7 out 8 of Titans (and all spires sites) they deployed during their invasion. They've had millions of human hostages since the start of that two year invasion. But now, as the last of the Titans was poised to fall, they scrape data from Seo-Jinn (sp?) and suddenly head for birthplace of humanity?!Frontier did a lot of setup but this definitely isn’t really throwing punches out. After months of waiting for this it’s just a bit… eh. Maybe some of those invasions will carry over into next week as controls but unless the rules have changed to allow them to attack immediately, or the Titan keeps applying pressure by pushing out new controls and/or a few invasions each week (with less regard to distance than prior), I’m not sure this will be much different or last very long.
Holiday sales, and money. Stop trying to find in-game logic. My biggest problem with this sudden move is not what Cocijo has done, but why FDEV had it do it now.
i haven't had time yet to login today post-update , but i'm wondering if anyone has checked SOL system ( or any of the current "invaded" systems shown here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/post-10501470 ) to see if maybe some new 'ground spire sites' are up ?The Thargoids lose 7 out 8 of Titans (and all spires sites)
Maybe it's somehow related or setting up something to do with eventual 'Colonization' feature? They've had millions of human hostages since the start of that two year invasion. This entire invasion doesn't make sense -
i've only been playing EliteDangerous for like 7 months so i'm not familiar with all the lore & persons & history , but perhaps Seo is friends with Felicity Farseer and the Thargoids used mind-meld on Seo to get info about.....RAXXLA ?!?!?!If, as some have speculated, the move was due to "something the Thargoids are looking for" has now been determined to be in the Sol system... again, I can only go with that so much. They scraped Seo's mind, not Admiral Tannner.
Sorry but what are "AX restoration missions" exactly? Do you mean what newbs like me just discovered for my 1st time here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/post-10491608 ... Or are you referring to longlost content that can't be done anymore?I do hope there is still some Thargoid content somewhere but... I don't know. The stuff I always enjoyed (doing the AX restoration missions behind enemy lines)
i personally think a GROUND war surprise return of the 'Guardans' , using existing Odyssey FPS code combined with new Thargoid/Humanoid captured combo creatures, would be super fun.I would/will be more impressed if they do some bigger reveals.
I suspect FDev forgot about them because they do not have a “Rescue Ship” in their names.... but the Allied Solace remains in Sun Wen and operational, as is the Imperial Sanctum in Hixkamaru.
