Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

It does when paired with a thermal vent beam laser. Keeping your heat low while you run the scan, without needing to use a heatsink. *Or if you are trying to assist in heart exertion while shooting the multicannons, but that loses a lot of its effectiveness on a Medusa or Hydra.

Though, personally, I keep a separate firegroup setting with beam laser on primary and xeno scanner on secondary trigger, because always having it go off while I am shooting and the scan is already done on a target just triggers my perfectionist. Or something.
This. That is what I have it on. I'm shooting anyway, so might as well also scan.

umm , i realize most everyone is busy playing---err i mean---testing BETA Colonisation & stuff , but meanwhile is it possible we are being trojan-horsed... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/page-1876#post-10559138 ...by them pesky THARGOIDS?!?!?! 👾
The idea that the surface sites are regrowing has come up repeatedly. I'm sure there's a cool psychology behind it... but tl;dr they aren't.

That Thargoid "head"... i don't recognise where that is,, but the perspective could be fooling me given you're on foot. Is there a shot from a ship?

Indeed it is; I just did a little peek at Titan Hadad!

TitanHadadRegrowth.jpg

Presumably either reforming itself or becoming something else, it is making many different Thargoid regrowth noises if one listens to it for a while. In the meantime, System colonisation view has replaced Thargoid war view at the Galaxy map.

FD is going to overlap the return of the Thargoids with the Trailblazer colonization push 😨
I think they’re waiting for it to have some time to get a few new populated systems built up before unleashing the Thargoids again. Fighting unpopulated system XYZ was probably a less popular activity to the point where Frontier outright disabled their creation by Thargoids. Colonizing removes a lot of that, and creates many more potential targets alongside the Frontier-created systems, for a “Target only inhabited” focus.

I also just want to point out - and sorry for being that person - an issue tracker page was created for this occurrence on update day, and it’s already marked as being in the voting stage without additional reports, so I’m not exactly convinced this Frankenstein-like mess the wrecks turned into is entirely intentional.

Or the execution is … somewhat flawed if it is intended. Personally still erring on the side of ‘bug’ (figurative kind, not Thargoid kind) until proven otherwise, especially since the nodes of stuff you can shoot off the larger wreckage pieces can be detected, inaccessible, within that mess at certain spots.

Some cause for concern is probably still appropriate after Cocijo did whatever it did on meltdown - I have this feeling if the Titans either get rebuilt or new ones show up they won’t just be harrassing the exterior edges of the Bubble. And they probably are going to show up again.

it is making many different Thargoid regrowth noises if one listens to it for a while.
It’s actually still the same noise as they began making when the assault on Cocijo was in its final stage - but you hear it much more because all of the pieces making it are jumbled together.

I guess it might mean something that it primarily seemed to be coming from the remains of the Titan hearts rather than the large intact outer body pieces (where the side launch tubes are)… more recently I thought I also heard occasional faint and slow, deep hearbeat-like noises coming from those remains, between the more ‘mechanical’ sounding noises.

But I’m sure it’s all fine and the signal/noise of the Titans resulting in that image was not an order for rebuilt Titans or whatever the spires may have been creating beneath the surface to converge on the human core systems.

Hi @Aleks Zuno , one of our guys was searching for clues on Raaxla & TDW and stumbled upon this. Greatly appreciate any information on the status of the other Titans, this is seriously beyond our pay grade. @Ian Doncaster @Kira Goto

A. Why is that in the Raxxla thread?

B. Some of the heat vents actually survive Titan destruction right from the get go. They could be found on the intact large portions of the body and one or two of the heart fragments (the vents appear to be directly connected to the hearts by the look of it, when a Titan remains active). Easy to miss that detail, I would guess, people now just pay more attention because this yet be to confirmed as a bug thing is happening. The wrecks all appear identical so fairly safe to say they all have remaining heat vents.

C. The cloud never actually fully dissipates, some of it has always remained around a wrecked Titan.
Only to a level that it is no longer damaging now. So unless it is becoming denser… (which I haven’t been able to tell, because I’ve only visited Oya after the 26th and that L class dwarf is not providing a great amount of lighting even that close to it)

Putting aside my objective face, I have always had some curiosity (and possible concern?) on whether a Titan could potentially rebuild from its wrecked state but decided to assume it was unlikely. From the gameplay standpoint, however, it would be the easiest/fastest way for Frontier to get them back into the Bubble and if they decide to move, for players to observe the “Stargoids”. And maybe less unlikely after they began making that noise, as well as whatever happened when Cocijo exploded.

What should I hear here?
Part of the noise can be described as ‘crackling’ (for lack of a better description) mixed in with some other strange noises, some more or less ‘organic’. Titan wrecks themselves used to make relatively little sound so it stands out fairly easily, if you were there before ~December 16(ish).

It's normal for the thread regulars to report on unusual stuff encountered during their Raaxla search for clues. In this case, he probably went to the Titan gravesite because it was relatively nearby the place he was actually investigating.

I have a feeling we're about to find out whether it's indeed possible soon. Have no doubt it's not over yet as far as the Thargoids are concerned.

We'll keep an eye out as best as we can 👍

For what it’s worth, I have to note that despite my assumption of it being a bug (until proven otherwise) the mess of Titan pieces looks oddly well-put together. Still, some of those harvest “nodes” of the corrosive cargo spawn inside it and whatever has happened caused it all to merge together at the central navigation marker for the Titan.

I guess that’s where tinfoil said it would go if it were rebuilding the Titan core that was largely obliterated during the detonation, and there might be enough material left to. Should this turn out to be intended.

I was afraid you'd say that. Will pay a visit myself as soon as I finish the science outpost I'm currently building - probably by next weekend.

Yep,
it took several weeks after first observed Stargoids (by chance????) for them to get to the 8 systems.
I'm thinking end March/April would be good to re-introduce Thargoids, ahead of new feature in roadmap.
<gets coat and exits with duck and zig zag run>

Hmm... ok, I'm somewhat convinced on the titan, but not on the surface site yet.... would like to see more of that "head" thing, coz i have no reference or context.

I guess the Thargoids are finding CMMs ok though 😆
