That was strange...

Just dropped out of supercruise at a station and noticed a blip on the scanner some 9km out, nothing unusual I thought, probably a pirate wants to die here so, I turned towards him and went to investigate.

It seemed he had his weapons out according to the scanner, then I noticed the icon turned hollow. Got to about 3km away and could see it was a Cobra, all of a sudden he disappeared. That was it.

Funny, because I play in a private group and nobody was online with me...

Not sure if it's related but someone on my friends logged off and their ship was still in game outside the station, trading for the last 6 hours and it's still been sitting there with their CMDR name and everything, ship is invincible and they are not online

Sometimes it wasn't even targetable, I would drop from SC and it was there everytime, sometimes I could fly right up and ram it without it appearing on my scanner and others times it showed as a CMDR target

Its not there now, so it's seems to have finnaly dissapeared

Did your friend actually log off when they were outside and near the station?
If so this is dangerous as the station moves as it orbits. When your friend logs back in the two could be in the same place and the players ships will explode.

Oh wait, that may explain a lot actually...

I had an invisible NPC, with a broken name (his name was just a pair of brackets [] ), shooting me outside of a station last night. My shields were blipping away, the NPC was talking to me ("i got you now!"...etc), but there were no ships on my radar. Nothing I could do about him except jump to SC and back.
