The 65000 LY from Sol Club

Post #139 has a route with maps all the way from Sol to Beagle Point. If you check the POIs marked on it in the Galactic Mapping thread, it'll give you the exact details of the procedural names to aim for.

Over the weekend I'll put together a more detailed route with more info, and hopefully Akira will add it to the OP to help aid explorers enroute to the far rim.

Thanks a lot Cdr, appreciated:)

I have found it, wow what a detailed route:

'CMDRs, we are organizing a trip to the Far Rim focused on planetary exploration via SRV. The route will touch several of the most interesting POIs of the Milky Way, a case wehre the journey is better than the destination. Departure time should be in the second half of January, details (provisory ones) are few pages ago in this very thread. Erimus will lead. So if you can't make it now very soon there will be an amazing experience!!!'

Hmmmmmmmm. is it worth waiting until January and join you guys? I'd have an SRV too. What do you think Akira? I am only 1KLY out. I can definitely wait. Make a few more creds.

It you're only 1k out then it may be better to wait as you may be burned out by January, and another endurance trip like this won't be so appealing.

Although I suppose it depends on how much you enjoy long haul trips :)

Nothing is set in stone for January though, it depends on what horizons offers ultra deep space expeditions, and how big an impact srvs have on jump range. I've heard they weigh 4t, but for a 150,000 ly round trip with planetary exploration a prime focus, we may be wise to carry a few in our holds - and that could effect the route and hamper the journey beyond the Abyss.

Hay Cmdrs Erimus and Voorheez,

Why don't you post this as a separate thread...will make it easier to follow for those of us considering joining you.

(I would do it myself but don't want to be seen as stealing your thunder).

Hmm... I wonder if leaving them on a planet will be an option while crossing the abyss?

Unlikely, but fun to think about...

If we can transfer SRVs by jettisoning and scooping, I have an idea on how we could lighten the load for the trip across the Abyss and through Solitude. We could have a transport remain at the Roncevaux Crossing holding our spare SRVs until we got back.

I've already got a volunteer for that role :) just need to see what's possible in Horizons and wether it's necessary.

Commanders talk about The Abyss, but no-one really tells you about the The Abyss ! At one point I did have to empty my fuel tanks bar a sliver in order to make the trip across.

I had decided 2 weeks ago to make this trip to the outer edge and it wasn't until last week I found this thread. It appears I am just merely stepping on the coattails of the Commanders before me but I feel the trip is an accomplishment none-the-less.

The solitude and repetitive nature of the pilgrimage to the outer ring does have a profound effect, it calms you completely.

Now on my way back to Azrael for a beer at Rafferty's Mobius :)

I know exactly now you feel. Solitude was actually the unofficial name given to the regions beyond the Abyss on the Galactic Mapping thread. Its an apt description of what you feel out there when looking back at the distant central milky way and realising how far you've come.

Sure thing, I will add all the maps necessary.

Welcome 29th member. You ended your journey in Trilateral Meeting Point, and the fact I remeber CEECKIA systems by name and distance is starting to worry me.

I finally recrossed the Abyss back and I'm Scutum Centaurus Arm, and the route plotter works!!!!! And it gives me 32 jumps for 1000LY instead of the 48 I got in Solitude!!!!! Still 55K from home, I feel the big part of the returning trip has already been made, from now on I just have to follow the navigator!!!!!!!

I will do. I'll put a post up tomorrow with maps and details :)

Cool, after that I'll link it to the OP.

Hello Commanders,

Following the footprints of CMDR Allitnil, i pushed my little ASP to some limits.
I had to get rid of three of my precious Fuel Limpets in order to do a jump, and balanced on the thin line between fuel or no fuel. But i just reached the end of a branch of systems i can jump to,
leaving my in the Rocky Rings of a Water-Based-Life Gasgiant in the Myeia Thaa RI-B D13-0 System, 65366,50 LY from Sol.

However, since i don't know if i could go farer than that, this does not mark the end of my journey. I'll keep you updated,

CMDR Arrakaij

My journey across the abyss is continuing. It has proven to be a challenge, but one which i am really happy to take!
I've traveled approximately 3000Ly today (A lot of it being eastwards before i started the trip over the abyss) and I'm over halfway over the abyss now.
Here are some pictures from the journey so far.

The star density is really low here, this is a route plotted that would take me 130LY "east" of my position. Total jumps were 16.

This one was odd. You might notice that the star density on the right part of the image is much higher than on the left. It seems very similar to the square sky-box issue in the core, but I'd never expect to see it here.

As i decided to end my journey, i took a look at the galaxy map to see my distance from sol, and randomly i was exactly 61000LY from SOL! (Coincidence? I think not!)

8KLY behind Kola2 but nearly on the same distance line... just passed through 58KLY from Sol and *still* heading North... plotting is getting more difficult as I approach the rim
Keep going!!!! Will update the incoming list

In my opinion, a Fuel Rat that had to sacrifice jumprange and brought an ASP as far as anybody could is going to deserve an history entry. Keep us updated, and maybe when you have done make a thread where you tell this story so i will link. Regarding History, probaly a couple of othe new entrie are coming. I realy don't want to clutter that section, but in the Far Rim tere's been a lot of activity recently, and people are having adventures there, not just touristing the POIs.
Meanwhile I am making progress - I am now 13kly from Sol, pushing forward:

You are almost there, and you'll have your meetup with Traveller_GG. Not to mention Arrakaij is in the are a the moment. So sry if our meeting couldn't be done Kola2, but If the three of you befriend you'll have an even more amazing meet.

Also i tend to dock on anaconda bridges, so maybe it's better for you. CMDR Warmhole is keeping 6K away from me already... :)

Ok, first thing i modified an history entry of october that only talked about me beeing the first new member in to this:

- A group of Veterans decided to institute THE 65000 LY FROM SOL CLUB, and designed CMDR Akira Masakari as curator, since he was in the CEECKIA Sector at the moment. Thanks to the Club registration to UC Institution, many CMDRs that were in the area in that period, converged to the CEECKIA Sector. CMDR Akira Masakari was passing an extend period of time in the Sector surveying it, and could meet three CMDRs in a day. Route Plots and scientific data has been exchanged, and also long range docking trainings took place, with CMDRs Alot, Eryn Liamson, Finwen. 25th October 3301 has probably been the most crowded day for the CHEECKIA Sector. Details can be found here.

The next one won't regard me, I swear, I'm alread 50K from sol:cool:
