The Adventures of Bomba Luigi on Planet Wilson - The Movie

It does appear a few copyright issues have come up today.

I am looking for an alternative video hosting sight, YouTube is just too much grief and hassle now. The time and effort I put in to using non-copyrighted music, and it's the classical music that has been flagged. I can easily fix that by choosing an alternative piece, but I really cannot be bothered with this level of hassle for practically every video I do. Given a bit more time I may be able to score my own music!

Give me a couple of days and I'll get an alternate link.

Wish I could have seen it before it got blocked! And sorry I didn't get back to you about using my footage! If for some reason you have to re-edit, feel free to put what you want of mine in there if you still want to! Or if you already did, that's more than fine too! Can't wait to see it! It's been a while and I miss being out there! Just deleted my bookmark the other day, thinking this was all over. I wouldn't mind visiting again!

So I've basically had a 10 day break from Elite in order to DO christmas. I ran some tourist missions this morning to ease myself back in but I have to say that watching this brilliant movie on my first commute of 2017 is what really got my head back into the game. Huge props to the Count for putting this together. I know how much work must have gone into that and well done for all the excellent music choices and for genuinely building the tension and atmosphere in what could otherwise easily have been a "you just had to be there" selection of dark and slow moving clips. Fantastic! Thank you.

So what new adventures will 2017 bring us I wonder.

Happy new year commanders.

P.S. if you like I could put the video up on our ftp site for people to download if they're having problems seeing it on youtube. Just say the word.

P.P.S. for anyone keen for some more SRV action having watched this brilliant, moody video, here's a couple of my own highlights from last year.

Oh, and apologies for all those unable to view these. Unlike Count I didn't take any care whatsoever with my music selections.

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that!

I have opened at account at Dailymotion (I still type videomotion in the url!) and uploaded a version there, so hopefully that will work!

YouTube and Google generate so much admin work for a small time individual user like me, it's a real pain sometimes!

The Adventures of Bomba Luigi on Planet Wilson: The Movie

https://youtu.be/OsfkrKfWsqo

The incredible adventure of Cmdr Bomba Luigi trapped on 'Planet Wilson' for more than two weeks in his SRV. At first alone, then with an able and dedicated rescue team around him, as he battles to try to get out of the immense canyon he is trapped in to rendezvous with his replacement ship.

By the end of the ten day confine Bomba had cajoled and bullied a performance from the SRV that was probably never envisioned by it's designers and surpassed what anyone thought was possible. The rescue team quickly learnt how to transport Bomba's SRV on various types of ships in various situations. How to move vertically upwards, how to move horizontally along. Each with it's nuanced differences depending on size of ship. And who would have thought that the Sidewinder would prove one of the most useful ships in SRV rescue? Or that the mighty Anaconda would be so adapted to a rescue role in the tight confines at the bottom of a deep and jagged canyon?

Like Nam, or Altamont, if you were there, you'll understand. You'll understand just how little this movie gets across about how big that canyon was, how dark that canyon was. The huge mountains that were swallowed up and dwarfed by the canyon. The Plateau of Hope which, like the Cape of Good Hope, should have been called The Plateau of Despair. There were other adventures going on too. Commanders were scouting and mapping, and loosing SRVs down there. To condense more than two weeks in the canyon and on Planet Wilson into an hour does not do full justice to the events, to the team work, to Bomba's unfaltering cheerful determination and the genuine seat-of-the-pants-ness of the whole thing.

My thanks to all the commanders who provided footage to make this movie possible. This was intended to provide a documentary souvenir for those who were there, and attempt to retell to those who weren't a story that was unique, spontaneous, engaging and thrilling. A story of individual fortitude and collective effort.

This movie provides a postcard of the trip. Something to remember it by.

This movie is above all a bit of fun, and I hope you all enjoy it.

Fly safe. And if you can't fly safe, fly crazy.

Cmdr Count von Weiss & Cmdr Patsy Stardust

Oh man, I forgot all about this until I was just going though all of my old posts on the forum! I think we need to have a reunion!
