The Asp Explorer - The Pilot

But for just a little over twice the price of the hull alone, you can have the de-facto best SMALL exploration ship available: https://s.orbis.zone/4oan
The Dolphin. In full Exploration configuration you have everything, and I do mean Everything you could possibly need, except a fighter bay.

And the advantages over the Asp X?

1. It sounds much better.
2. Supercruise maneuverability.
3. Fully unobstructed view.
4. Tiny profile enables it to land in places neither the AspX or DBX can fit.
5. The base hull price is 1.3m, the AspX weighs in at 6.6m

This makes the Dolphin easily the best-in-small-class Explorer. Add to that the right engineering, a Guardian Booster, and it can nearly match the Anaconda in jump range.

Your build’s not getting very far without a scoop. Maybe drop the ADC?

Beat me to it ;)

I've been in a trading AspE on my way to bigger ships, ran a wierd loadout with two beams, two multicannons and two cannons that was strangely effective at getting rid of pirates long before engineering. Long before engineering and before Colonia or anything outside the bubble it took me to Sagittarius A and to exploration Elite. Today it has come full circle and serves as rares trader, with 114t cargo, 35ly jump range when fully laden, which is 5 more than it had in it's exploration days and a nasty set of quad small beams and two shock cannons for self defense.

But my exploration ship is now the Phantom. It feels more rounded, I like it's canopy actually better, and even with 64ly jump range it's still well enough armed and shielded to take out the occasional NPC wierdo that interdicts an explorer.

Definitely would need the fuel scoop. Also no need for heavy shields and sensors, etc, when just exploring. I'd probably do something more like this, but there are lots of ways to go about it of course.

Before I was The Pilot, I was someone else, and I miss my callsign to no end. Delacy - Delta - Oscar - November.

There's a port where the tower is manned by this lovely woman with an accent that always flubs the November, as "Novembah". Loved it everytime I heard it.
