@IndigoWyrd help me out here
1. The dolphin has way more, bigger, slots
2. Sound is subjective, i hate the couriers "teeth rubbing on a seatbelt" sound effect
3. The couriers view is not better, you can barely see in front of yourself
4. Last i remeber the dolphin is very agile, pretty close to the courier
5. Wow a whole 2 milliom creidts, im broke now, how will i dig myself out of this hole
Let's compare...
Dolphin Internals: 4 Power Plant, 5 Thrusters, 4 FSD, 4 Life Support, 3 Distributor, 3 Sensor, 4 Fuel
Raw Armor: 198
iCourier Internals: 4 Power Plant, 3 Thrusters*, 3 FSD, 1 Life Support, 3 Distributor, 2 Sensors, 3 Fuel
Raw Armor: 144
Dolphin has larger thrusters, but *the iCourier can fit Enhanced Performance Thrusters, larger life support, larger sensor and a larger fuel tank. It also has slightly more raw armor.
In terms of raw speed, EPT's will outrun 5A's.
2 and 3 are both subjective, though the Dolphin does offer a fully unrestricted view out the front. The Dolphin's boost sound... it does remind me of the sound Flipper might have made if touched inappropriately. But this does not effect performance.
4. The Dolphin, like all Saud Kruger ships, is exceptionally agile for its size. However, there are some people who have experienced a bug that causes the Dolphin to super-heat under certain circumstances. This has not been reported to affect the iCourier.
5. The Dolphin hull is less expensive than the iCourier, though fully outfitted, due to the larger internals and core slots, will cost a bit more in the long run.
The iCourier does sport an impressive weapons array with 3 medium hard points - though this is usually meaningless for Exploration, as it's pretty rare to actually have to fight in deep space. As a small Bounty Hunting ship though, the iCourier is a blast! I made no small bit of credits hunting in one.
Compared to the Dolphin's 2 small hardpoints, the head-to-head tactical advantage goes to the iCourier.
As for which is the "better" Exploration ship...
I've got to give it to the Dolphin - More Fuel, Larger Internals (bigger fuel scoop), and one curious advantage that gets overlooked frequently - the Dolphin has a very narrow, very small landing footprint. You can land a Dolphin in places other ships, including the Diamondbacks simply will not fit. There's also room for a SRV bay, something Explorers tend to like to take with them.
@baudelier : I suppose I could do this...build:
https://s.orbis.zone/4t1h compare:
https://s.orbis.zone/4t1j
You get a speed advantage, and a little bit more shields, but firepower is way outmatched.
Final Verdict: They both very good ships, but push come to shove, the Dolphin will pull ahead as an exploration craft.
