With storms in witchspace causing a large delay in the race today, Day 7 saw just one new run in Once Upon a Time Class, but it was a good one. Cmdr Darplata94 doesn't make it to as many BRC events as he'd like, but when he does he's normally around the top of the leaderboard. So it's surprise to see him surge ahead of the other Cobras in Flaming Frontier, with an excellent run of 26m41s.
The storms might have slowed down the racing in Shenanigan Class, but they didn't stop the race marshals causing more controversy. First was a blow for Cmdr Martinjameson, when his otherwise perfectly valid 36m36s run was disqualified when analysis of the V.A.R.S. evidence showed that Martin had clearly passed through the CQC Holo-gate before the third Lavian Brandy ad. Sorry, but not even a name like Jameson will let you get away with that.
More CQC Holo-gate controversy occured during Cmdr Sulu's latest run. Sulu boosted through as the gate flipped from its Core Dynamics state, but the all seeing eye of V.A.R.S. showed that it had flipped to a state displaying Alliance propaganda, rather than the normal CQC banner. This appears to be either a cheeky counter hack by Lave Radio's IT Crowd, or more likely sour grapes from Mohan that his latest PR campaign is being upstaged by an illicit space race. Either way, it didn't work, Cmdr Sulu avoided the Core Dynamics ad, so the run was good.
And it really was good, moving Sulu back into third place in Seagull - 26 seconds ahead of Cmdr Epaphus - despite the attentions of hackers, many Truckers Union pilots in their Type-9s and the automated weapon systems of the Lave Radio Signal Booster.
Earlier in the day BRC regulars Cmdr Inga Stevenson and Cmdr Leeya Geddy had both got decent first Shenanigan runs onto the board in 7th and 8th positions. Inga was the slower of the two with a run of 43m44s in her DBX Medusa's Gambit, but hopefully the temporal instability that disrupted her witchspace transits will clear up tomorrow. Leeya Geedy meanwhile joined the pod of Dolphins, taking Passage To Bangkok around the course in 39m51s. Leeya said that the less said about her flyving, the better, but while there's few few things Little Nuk loves watching more than an SRV spinning and cartwheeling helplessly (and then preferably exploding), even he had to admit that the flyving went pretty well once Leeya had cleared the bounder field she'd landed in.
Yet another important note: The CQC / Core Dynamics holo-banners at The Orange Sidewinder now look like they have three states, post-update: CQC, Core Dynamics and one Powerplay banner. I've opted to make it slightly easier, rather than slightly harder - so as long as you avoid the Core Dynamic banner and hit one of the other two states then your run is good.
