The Buckyball Racing Club presents: Ruby's Road (Triple Eight Championship, Race 6)

In hindsight I do realise how much of a troll this race is.

Other additions that were scrapped include but are not limited to a bonus for not using nightvision and a small time bonus for buying 8 tons of all different items at a commodity market.

But I'll save those for another time.

It is, but in a very, very good way. I’ll explain more in the post, but we need troll races like this. If only I’d had more time and it had been a quieter week.
I concur. This last week has been a troll and a half.
The race itself was this rare kind of troll that likes to have fun and share it with others in a very special way.
It feels really rewarding if you get everything right without forgetting any of the tasks.

I'd like to thank you, @psykit , for this fun race.

And screw you, real life for trolling me like this!

I utterly enjoyed this race @psykit , honest straightforward fun. Thank you
I did much better than my god awful week should of allowed really so overall pretty happy. I wish I could have spent more time with it but such is life.
Well done all.

Oh and yes I did do 100% hull landings lets get that out right away, I also never once hit the blender either and only lost 1 ship all week. So there!

Real life has always been a troll, but unfortunately I managed to troll myself the last couple of days. Saturday night, after work, I decided to get my Covid and Flu shots from the pharmacy, and they told me I should also get my first dose of the Shingles vaccine. "Fair warning," the pharmacist said, "with the Shingles vaccine you'll have a sore arm, and feel a little under the weather, for a couple of days."

They really of undersold things IMO. I'm still in no shape this morning to make an attempt... though I am feeling better than yesterday, even if I did sleep another ten hours last night.

At any rate, thank you @psykit, for hosting this race. As always, I didn't make as good a show of it as I'd like. We still haven't had a wasp-free day downstairs despite the exterminator saying it'll take a week for the nest to die, I've been jumping at shadows and all the little noises an older house makes all week, and I'm not going to even think of putting the VR headset when they're still about. :(

Here's to October's Race! The last period of relative peace before the worst two months in retail!

You're going to completely ruin your reputation the way you have been flying lately.

Unlimited and Regulation runs submitted. I switched from my Viper to my Courier, completely forgetting it had been stripped out and changed to an unengineered SCO FSD. So the leg from Ray Dock to Uhm Pharmacology took 2 jumps (I was short by 0.1ly), and I couldn't buy anything at Yang's. The next few runs were spent figuring out where to boost so that I hit max speed in the tunnel and not halfway to the first ring.

Route-wise, I found the only viable ways to visit Hidden Fields were at the beginning or end. The rules didn't seem to forbid it, but going partway through the RUBY stations added 1 or 2 extra jumps for the Cobra. I ended up always going there first, even though the jump out was always obscured - I did end up finding an unobscured intermediate stop between Hidden Fields and Ray Dock for the Cobra, and just sucked up the delay in Unlimited.

Big thanks to @psykit for dreaming up and running the race, and I have to say I was delighted when I saw you, too, had forgotten to buy anything on one run :devilish:
Well done to all my fellow racers, congrats to the podium finishers, and a special mention to my fellow lunatics in the 800m/s club!

Intriguing idea to visit the hacienda midway, never even occurred to me! I ended up always doing it at the end because of the obscured jump despite the constant fear of blowing an otherwise decent run by boosting through the rings and straight into the ring structures. The other thing I really liked was the way an attempt at a >95% hull bonus could quickly turn into a smash the hull down to <10% after the first heavy landing. Thanks for a great race @psykit, really enjoyed this despite not having much time due to a badly timed holiday. True story - on the first Saturday I paid a very quick visit to Shinrarta to witness the attack but decided to forego my chance to defend humanity and earn some cash and CG rewards, instead choosing to prioritise Buckyball and get an early time on the board before I went away. Hearing everyone getting all their module rewards I'm slightly regretting that choice now … oh well, I'm still several billion bucks shy of a fleet carrier but at least my racing pride is intact (hopefully). Final results today perhaps?

There's one person that I'm waiting on clarification from, but I'm going to pop what are essentially temporary boards in here with an * for reasons of I'm looking and the Lave show notes and it says "Over to Clare for the Buckyball results" and I do not handle that pressure well 😆

Thank you to everyone who submitted runs, I loved watching them!

Thank you as well for the positive comments about my trolly race. I can't wait to troll you all again next year with an equally as silly theme.
