So that's me at the back with the cricket bat! I don't know if anyone else has ever done a "zombie run" (at least I think that's what they're collectively known as) but this was taken after an event called
2.8hrs later (n.b. it's old so only parts of that website are still up) which I did one dark night in Stratford about 10 years ago.

The idea is that you go as a team (we were a rock band called "The Midnight Riders").
You turn up at a "safe zone" in an otherwise Zombie infested part of London where you're given a briefing and some maps and other "props" and sent on your way to various objectives across town. There are actors you meet along the way who give you bits of additional story and direct you to further objectives (some of whom are attacked right before your eyes). There are also (of course) zombies prowling the streets, lots of them! These are all actors who've been professionally made up and trained how to act like zombies and they were flippin' terrifying!
I remember being worried when I bought the tickets that I wouldn't be fit enough to do this (the blurb did talk about quite a lot of running and I'm not someone who runs normally).
But I figured, they can't MAKE me run and if I get caught I get caught (when you're caught the zombies rub an invisible marker pen on your arm ... more on this later). However, let me tell you ... when you encounter a gang of groaning zombies on the dark streets of London, the calm knowledge that this is just a game goes out the window, the primal instincts kick in, and boy do you run, you RUN until your heart is fit to burst!
It was one of the most terrifying (and exhilarating) experiences of my life. Your final objective at the end is another "safe zone" where your arms are checked under an ultraviolet light. Some of the zombie marker pens contain water, others an "infection" which lights up. The survivors are led one way, the infected are taken another where they too have zombie makeup applied, and then you all meet in a massive "backstage" party where you drink and dance into the early hours of the morning while a giant counter on the wall shows the ongoing score.
You can probably tell from the photo at the beginning that only two of our group survived (bloody cowards who legged it, leaving their mates and wives for dead ... you really find out who your friends are doing a thing like this!

).
Anyway, just a little story to entertain you while you wait for the final results.
