The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Yea but the performance gain between the i7 7700k vs the i7 6700k will be very minimal, whereas the difference in performance between the 1060 and 1050 is rather large.

I think the i7 6700k and the i7 7700k are even the same, except the 7700k is clocked higher by default. At least I think I remember it having the same exact specs but I could be wrong.

Choices, choices, choices. That is all it comes down to I guess and the price of course as I want to stay in the $1000 range for a new PC. In fact, the only reason why I am buying my first gaming PC is, because of Planet Coaster. If it wasnt for the game, I would not be getting a gaming PC in the first place.

BTW, When it comes down to the theme parks that I want to be able run at a decent FPS (more than 15 FPS) rate would be the following parks:

Pixel World and Pixel Studios
Six Flags Xtreme Adventure
Adrenaline Springs 2
Mystery World
New Pickle Point
Sinful City
Pangea
Ports Of The World
J's Wonderland
Geyser Springs
Themepark Adventure Land
The Shining
Wombat World
Wonderland

As for building a theme park in the future. The size would be about the same size of Six Flags Xtreme Adventure or slightly bigger.

If I can get good FPS rate on high settings (15 - 20 plus) on the theme parks that I mentioned with a limit of 2000 guests. I would be happy as a pig. However, if I have to set it at medium settings on some of the parks. I would have no problem with it either, but I prefer to play on high settings.

Its hard to say what performance you will get with those parks. Some of them, like the Pixel parks are extremely detailed. I don't think you can get 15-20 fps with any of the PCs you listed in your previous comments.

Even on low settings with no guests in the park.

I know the Pixels Park is very detailed, but most of the parks from what I have seen on youtube arent as detailed as the Pixel parks.

Like I said, If I can build theme parks the size of Six Flags Xtreme Adventure park without that much FPS hit. I would be very happy. I also even asked the person who did the park about his PC specs and he responded by telling me his following PC specs:

juste i7 6600
geforce 980m
12go ddr4

And all the PC's I have listed are close to the same or even higher with higher PC specs.

Yes, but for the hardware you get it is way too expensive. Have you thought about maybe building your own system?

Yes but I'm not able to do that. It is very difficult for me because I never did it before and I do not know enough about computers and stuff. [knockout]

Or this one?

Here is the issue as of right now. My wife and I were talking about the price of the gaming PC that I want to buy in a few months this past weekend. We have come down to about $1300 in the budget for the new PC. However, considering that I am paying for the PC with my own money. I do have a little more say in what type of gaming PC I get and how much I am willing to spend on it. Here are the 3 gaming PC's that are in the final running for me to purchase so I can play Planet Coaster.

Option # 1
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpo...e-120gb-ssd-black-red/5712948.p?skuId=5712948

Option # 2
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cybertr...sd-2tb-hdd-black-blue/5642123.p?skuId=5642123

Option # 3
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypow...-hard-drive-black-red/5727202.p?skuId=5727202

I know option # 2 and # 3 are over my budget, but if I can catch a sale on option # 2. I would be close to the $1300 budget. With option # 3, I would need a sale on the PC with a savings of $150 or more for me to even consider buying that PC.

All three options are 7700K and have a 4.2 CPU, but each option has a different video card. I am just not sure how much better the game will run between a 1060, 1070, and a 1080 card. Will there be a big difference between all of the cards? Is it big enough that it makes it worth getting the PC with the high end card?

My main goal is just find a PC that will be able to run Planet Coaster on high to medium settings with a limit of 2000 guests on some of the nice parks that are available such as Six Flags Xtreme Adventure, Adrenaline Springs 2, New Pickle Point, Pangea, and Geyser Springs. If I can get 20 plus FPS on those parks, I would be very happy.

The GTX 1070 is classed as high end and is more than good enough. You don't need a 1080 but you do need a quad core CPU with over 3.5Ghz clock speed. The 1070 has more cores and vRAM and faster than a 1060 and 1050.

I got my first custom desktop last year. My hp 15ab222tx and the average laptop people use for school and uni will struggle to play this game on the higher settings.

Yea I would go for the 1070 as well. It's a great card and a lot closer to a 1080 than a 1060. (still build your own system!!)

Thanks guys. It seems like I will be probably go with option # 2 (when I can catch it on sale) as it has a quad core (4.2 ghz) and 1070 card with 16GB of RAM.

Hopefully with that PC, I will be able to run most of the parks that I mentioned in one of my previous post with at least 20 FPS on high settings with a limit of 2000 guests. If I had to, I would put it down to 1000 guests.

Here is the list of parks that I mention in one of my previous posts.

Pixel World, Pixel Studios, and Pixel Island
Six Flags Xtreme Adventure
Adrenaline Springs 2
Mystery World
New Pickle Point
Sinful City
Pangea
Ports Of The World
J's Wonderland
Geyser Springs
Themepark Adventure Land
The Shining
Wombat World
Wonderland
Universal World Of Adventure

One other thing that I like is that It also has a 2 TB hard drive and 120 GB solid state drive and also includes a DVD/CD burner.

i dont know why that one was so expensive? this one looks a little better for less: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GS73VR...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=PYRFKNVHKNCYCHS1N88T . Ram should be 16GB, GPU should be no less a 10xx series (preferably ti version) and MOST important for this same is the processor, do not go below the latest generation (7th) intel i7 (7700). your CPU is most important for running planet coaster. DO NOT invest $1,500-2,000 on a machine and have it come up short. you will not get far on even their ''recommended'' specs as mine are MUCH higher and i still see slow down. if you are buying a new computer just for this game, do not half- it. or you will play to a point and have to start over every time when you could have spent $100 more and played a lot further. this game needs a good GPU more more important is the CPU.

THE I7 7700K is key, do not go less than that. that is the #1 most important piece of hardware to run this software. a good GPU is important too, but PC is a CPU intensive game.

My plan is to go with a I7-7700K with either a 1070 or a 1080 card with 16 GB of RAM.

Possible?

Hi sneeringpath478,

Welcome to the Planet Coaster forums. Yes, you will be able to run Planet Coaster with those specs, but please do know that they are below the minimum required specs to run the game. Because of this you may encounter issues while playing Planet Coaster.

It is recommended to play Planet Coaster with a computer that meets at least the minimum requirements which can be found here.
