The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

^ Your RAM is sitting on the minimum. You should be able to play it on like 720p resolution LOW everything settings. Your CPU clock speed is on the low side too. An i7 quad core (not dual core) processor which with a clock speed of 3.5Ghz or better would do a better job since this game is CPU intensive especially with the AI. GTX 840 desktop version does better than the mobile version GTX 840M will found on laptops.

My white HP 15-ab222tx laptop has similar specs to yours.
6th gen Intel Core i5-6200U 2.3Ghz with turbo boost to 2.7Ghz
AMD R7 M360 2GB + Intel HD 520
8GB DDR3L RAM

My laptop with Intel HD 520 can only play this game in 1920x1080 Low everything settings at 1-2fps. The AMD mobile GPU can do better, but not by much. Windows 10 Task Manager says my i5 processor is maxed out throughout gameplay. But on my desktop, my i7 is only 82-87% maxed out so quad core i7 and i5 CPU's (or equivalent) with a high clock speed (eg. 3.5Ghz and above) would do a better job.

This game is a masterpiece. It has a lot of stuff in it. The better your hardware PC is, the more prettier and smoother your gameplay experience will be. I don't imagine the final game PC requirements will be much different to what it is now. As I read from gamedebate.com, google's first result when searching for planet coaster system requirements, it said this :

"With that said, these system requirements are far more demanding than your typical tycoon game. That's probably because Planet Coaster isn't your typical game, and you can see from the various footage and screenshots released that it's packed with detail and has massive environments. As such, the minimum requirements are fairly steep for a management game, but compared to the AAA blockbusters out there they're a walk in the (theme park)."

Windows 10
AMD Athlon II X4 630 (4 CPUs) ~2.8 GHz
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon R9 380 (8GB)

My main concern is the CPU... no idea how it compares to an FX-4300. Any insight much appreciated!

Should work good up to middle sized parks at the moment. But your Quad, at this low clock will struggle with parks that have a few thousand of guest i think.

Im building a PC at the moment and would anyone be able to tell me if this will run Planet Coaster:

GTX 970

Ram 16gb

intel i5 4460 quad core processor (3.2 6mb)

WD 1tb hdd Caviar

Any help would be appreciated!

I would reccomending tetting either an i7 processor, or a i5-6600k, (or just switching to a overclockable processor) since planet coaster is a cpu intensive game.

The GTX 970 should be able to tun it, but have you tried going for a 1060?

The name for the powersupply, as you wrote is, makes me think it is of lower quality than recommended.

What is your budget? I could put together a list.

Hi thanks for getting back to me!

The budget im looking at is around 400-500 UK pounds. If you could put together a list that would be awesome and really appreciate it!

Help to choose laptop for gaming Planet Coaster

Can you help me choose for my son on Birthsday gaming laptop? He likes to play in Planet Coaster, Parkitect and RollerCoaster Tycoon/ Sorry that I write here. Just I understand that there are experienced players who understand the characteristics of the laptop.

I think this https://yepo.com.au/n6r26aa-hp-chromebook-11-g4.htm or http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-15-3552-laptop/pd?oc=z510832au&model_id=inspiron-15-3552-laptop/. Can I restrict purchase HP ChromeBook 11 G4? Or, tell me another good gaming laptops for children 14-15 years? Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Hello, can I get a performance check for my current PC? (I plan to upgrade RAM to 16)

*AMD Six-Core FX-6300 Vishera processor
3.50GHz (with a max turbo speed of 4.1GHz), 8MB L3 Cache

*8GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (expandable to 16GB)

*AMD R7-250 Graphics
With 2GB graphics memory

*Power Supply 400 Watt - ATX

Hello, I was looking to build my own computer and was wondering if you could give me a motherboard that would work best with AMD Fx 8350, Amd Radeon R9 380 and 16gb ram..Also wondering if you could give me a power supply. Thanks

Does it really have to be a laptop? Neither of those will be able to run Planet Coaster at all. Parkitect might start, but that game might not run well either. I would recommend a desktop PC.
It is not really that hard to build a PC. I built one myself last year. (I was 15 back then)

Is there a big performance difference between an i5 and i7 in this game? I'm running an i5 2500k@4.4GHz but I'm considering upgrading to an i7 2600k before the final game launches.

I'm sure this is probably pointless because I know it's going to run, but does anyone have any idea how well it will run PC?

i7-6700K 4.1GHz
16 GB DDR4-3000
GTX 970

^ It will be able to play this game in 1920x1080 maxed out settings or at least High preset settings. I have a similar PC to you, but I have the AMD R9 390 which is better than the GTX 970 because of it's higher bandwidth bigger bus and double the amount of vRAM. Remember only 3.5 or the 4GB vRAM in the GTX 970 is actually fast memory. But it's still a good card.

DON'T DO IT!

You will see a couple of frames per second difference, almost not noticeable... The game will utilize all 4 cores, virtual threads won't make a difference. If you have extra cash laying around do one of these instead:

- Keep the i5 and upgrade your ram to a faster spec DDR3 if your motherboard supports it. Any increase in RAM speed will aid your processor calculations.

- Buy a solid state drive if you don't already have one.

If you have money to burn build from scratch with the latest Intel chipset Motherboard + i5/i7 CPU, 16GB+ DDR4 RAM, GTX780ti, GTX980/80ti, GTX1060/70/80, latest SSD.

Hope this helps.

Fultre

Unfortunately additional RAM won't improve your performance due to CPU and GPU bottleneck.

I believe you're looking at comfortable mid to high settings on 1080P. You will however experience a significant frame rate drop if you max all the graphics settings.

Will this pc be able to run planet coaster without any issues on the highest performances?

AMD Athlon X4 860K CPU - 4 Core - 3,7GHz
Kingston Fury Hyper X 8gb DDR3-1866 MHZ
MSI AMD Radeon R7 360 2GB OCV1

Like many on here, I'm thinking about building my own PC. Here's what I've got planned:

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/TxqfvV

The video card is a no go on your build. By spending $40-$50 (USD) more on a card, you will see much better performance then the 960. Look into both an AMD RX480 (can find them from $199(4gb)-$249(8gb) or a GTX 1060 for around $249 (6Gb) and any of those options would be far ahead of the 960.

Do not buy a GTX1060 with 3gbs. While the price may be $199, The RX480 with 4GB of vram is faster then it for the same $199 price point!

You might want to invest in a normal Hard drive (in addition to the SSD) for storage reasons. 250gbs will fill up quickly on the SSD

I would say with 95% confidence, NO, that will not run without issues, or run at a comfortable fps at the highest settings. You maybe could get away with low settings. Keep in mind that this game is heavily CPU dependent, and your cpu you have chosen is lacking. I would look into new cpu's. Really, all your parts are outdated, so if you really want to play advanced modern games like Planet Coaster at max settings, then you might need to increase your budget.
