The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Sorry if it's already been posted somewhere in the past 26 pages, but I'm assuming the game is going to be optimized between now (A3) and release, right? I'm sure some of the performance issues people are experiencing won't be as prevalent come November.

well for a Custom Made Laptop It says that the settings I used would run the Game?

Even then to make it clear, I am not a tech Person at all :( so really I have to keep on guessing to see if I can match them settings for that Laptop and the one I found from what I guess seems to work

Edit sorry

The CPU Should of said

I7- 6700

Waiting for the beta, but is anyone playing with a i5 4690K and a GTX 970. If so what fps and performance do you guys get, and yes i'm aware that it's in alpha

o/ ..i get a fluid result on high settings, until the guests hitting 3.000, on a full constructed map (much scenery, terraforming, multiple big coasters, many rides). For me the number of guests are the matter of fps.

I just have 8 GB of ram [cry]. But will update this when the beta starts.

Cheers[up]

A laptop with a 1060 GPU will play the game well, but the limiting factor will be the CPU. A laptop i7 6700HQ will only run at 3.1GHz on all 4 cores compared to an overclocked desktop i7 which can run past 4.5 GHz with the right cooling, and since Planet Coaster is such a CPU demanding game that will make a difference. Still, that laptop with the GTX 1060 will run the game well, just not as good as a similarly priced desktop.

So If I was to pick an Laptop What type of Custom Settings should I look out for

or if I was going to get a P.C what type of Custom Settings Should I look our for

Without wanting to be an advert for a different company - here is a build I just put together. You could email them and see how much it costs for them to build it for you?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £942.85
(includes shipping: £0.00)

You can get Windows 10 from here for £21.99: https://softwaregeeks.co.uk/product...H-TxakRwmZt2zl5vjphsPjZXsHhgCNQsuCxoCHOrw_wcB

Yes you'd have to burn it to USB stick yourself and install it youself, but it saves £70 over the retail USB version.

But IMO this build is better than the one you listed. It has a quad core and faster i5 processor - which this game will substantially benefit from. It has an SSD instead of a HDD (you could add another drive later when you fill up the SSD) . And it has a 24" 1080p monitor instead of your specc'd low resolution 18.5".

You may not see yourself as a tech person but there is lots of help out there.

yeah i do appreciate it but it's just I like to pay on a monthly payment plans to cut down my spending... I just hope that website I am getting the info from can help me seems they where so post to be good tech people at making Custom Laptops and PC'S

I will have to ask them if they can fill me with a price for a laptop or a p.c that can run Planet Coaster with out any lags or bugs.

Nathanasmiddy20 - The laptop you linked earlier (the one that was configured with an i7 6700HQ and a GTX 1060 6GB) would have been fine for Planet Coaster. If you want to save some cash on it, knock the memory down from 32GB to 16GB as 32 is a little overkill if you're just gaming and using it as a general use machine!

A GTX 1060 laptop is a £1300 system though. You can get a very good desktop for that cash.

Here is a prebuilt ITX system, with monitor and keyboard/mouse and win10. There are lots of other case / format choices for around the same money.

Total: £1,062.84
(includes shipping: £28.02)

Sorry nathanasmiddy20 - I just noticed your post where you said you wanted to pay monthly. That does limit your options somewhat.

Hello everyone,

So I have three questions; any help would be greatly appreciated.

1.) Would I be able to run the game on the laptop with these specs?

It is an Acer Aspire E 15 with:
CPU: Intel Core i5-6200U (2.3 GHz with boost up to 2.8 GHz)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX (2GB)
Memory: 8 GB DDR4
Storage: 256 GB SSD

2.) My brother also has a laptop. Would the game be able to run on his laptop?

It as an Asus Zenbook UX305FA with:
CPU: Intel Core M-5Y10c (800 MHz with boost up to 2.0 GHz)
GPU: Intel HD 5300 graphics
Memory: 8 GB DDR3
Storage: 256 GB SSD

3.) Is there a chance that the developers will raise the minimum requirements for Planet Coaster as development continues?

For both of these computers I'm not expecting to be able to play on the highest graphics settings. I'm just hoping to be able to play on the lowest (or possibly mid-range) settings in moderately sized parks.

Thanks in advance for all help

Since Nathanasmiddy20 wants to pay by instalments you usually end up pay a lot more taking these companies financial packages, so a bank loan my be better for needs (depends on financial situation). I know Scan offer a buy now pay nothing for 9 months deal apart from deposit, but I don't like that type of deal, even though I am pretty careful with my money.

That's why I hate recommending systems for people as they usual have made there mind up before hand, ie a Laptop and on the drip, Then you end being disappointed in the long run. I am too lazy to built my own PC these days but I am lucky to live and work 5 mins for one of the UK's online retailer is case it goes wrong or I need to do basic upgrades.

It's going to really struggle on the first machine and be unplayable on the second. For Planet Coaster you really need to be looking at something quad core (unsure about AMD processors as I have no recent experience of them) with at least a mid range GPU solution.

The specs could indeed change between now and full release and it could go either way after optimizations. I wouldn't expect minimum requirements to drop by much if at all however. [sad]

Yeah that's why I'll seldom ever recommend a machine, I'll just check specs and say either yay or nay! In more recent years I've personally just stuck to buying second hand parts anyway and if you know what you're doing it's what I'd recommend most people do. The computer that my kids use has about 75% of the performance of my main computer in Planet Coaster and it cost less than £200 all in minus an old TN widescreen monitor.

Both are going to really struggle with this game. My laptop has an Intel Core i5-6200U. And while that processor is "6th gen" meaning one of the latest from Intel, your GPU's and especially your CPU's (since they're like only dual core and not quad core and have a VERY LOW clock speed) are going to struggle. You'll need a quad core i5 or i7 processor with above 3Ghz clock speed and a GTX 960 or AMD R9 series GPU to run it more well without it struggling at like 1fps. On my laptop, the Intel HD 520 which is integrated into the 6200u processor, can only play this game on 1080p low everything settings at 1-2fps. My laptop also has an AMD R7 M360 and it does a better job, but not by much.

That's why I brought my 1st custom desktop PC which has a quad core i7 processor and AMD R9 series GPU which has a bandwidth of 384Gb/s. And it can easily play this game on 1080p high settings at a smooth frame rate. But what sets back a lot of people I think is the what can be, expensive cost of a better rig. But when you have saved up the money for one and get a better rig, it just like makes your experience so much better.

I have to go on an extended trip later this month. I have a beefy desktop that has no problems running Planet Coaster. I can't take it with me so I decided to test the game on my laptop. Surprisingly it ran!

Fujitsu T902
i5-3320M with HD 4000
16GB RAM
1366x768 resolution (native is 1600x900)
Windows 10 Pro

Performance was so bad! Not a surprise. This hardware is below the minimum specifications for the game. Sure, it would run an empty park at 24 to 28 FPS, but once a couple rides and a hundred guests showed up the game became a <1 FPS slideshow.

Today we learned that no, Planet Coaster is not playable on an Intel HD 4000. We also learned that YouTube is wrong. [cool]

Yeah it seems to be that guests are the main FPS killer.
