The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

I love to build my PCs and would always recommend it for those with moderate technical skill (it's not nearly as daunting as some may fear. In fact these days it is easier than ever). Anyway, pending funds, I have every intention of upgrading my CPU in due course, but for reference and anyone reading who might be running a similar spec I am currently on:

EVGA NVIDIA 1060SC.
16GB Ram (DDR3)
Intel i5 4440

In an empty park as I begin building framerates will hover around 65-72fps. If I load up Silvarret's Logwood park I average around 24fps which I don't have a problem with, but by Silvarret's standards that's the least design heavy park he has made. Anything bigger and more dense with scenery and I will begin to see drops below 20, with serious peep, ride/scenery heavy parks dropping me to a unplayable 9fps average.

I've not yet picked out a new CPU, but I am reluctant to upgrade my motherboard at the same time so will be looking to stick with Haswell but a better chip (I already run a Noctua fan over my 4440). I'll evaluate my options in a month once the final game is out and we see if further optimisation has improved anything. I'm an obsessive when it comes to scenery design, so being able to build and run heavily themed parks will be of great importance to me.

Yeah! In Medium-Bigs Parks the game use 90%-100% CPU, and the framerate drops to 25-30 fps....
The people arrount the park use a lot of CPU.... The game need optimization
I Play all new games in PC with no fps problems
Its normal? Here mi DXDIAG:

Hi there peeps.I'm new to the forum and haven't played the game yet as my laptop is far too old.loving the look of this game so I'm thinking of upgrading and buying a new one. I would like to play the game on the highest settings but wasn't sure if this laptop would cut it? I have a £800 budget.if anybody could take the time to have a look at the laptop I've found and let me know if this would do the job it'd be much appreciated. Or if you could recommend any others out there I'm willing to look.many thanks.http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/9S7-16J522-817-MSI-GP62-6QE(Leopard-Pro)-817UK_1984204.html

Please take a look at this thread to read more about the minimum and recommended system specification for Planet Coaster: Can my computer run Planet Coaster

Ok,many thanks.so that suggests to me that a 2gb graphics card won't be up 2 scratch . I'm not that great with computers but have a little bit of knowledge.could anyone tell me if laptops made by msi are any good? I normally buy hp or Asus.

Eh, I made a new thread before I saw this thread meh.I discovered this game a few days ago and I am tempted to preorder it but I am not sure.

So, I have:
Win 7 x64
8gb DDR3 RAM
AMD 6300 3.5GHz (can over clock)
AMD Radeon R9 280 x 4gb on board memory (Meets reccomended requirements)
I can play GTA 5 on high - very high settings without performance issues though the whole PC gets a bit toasty if it's any help :D

How do you think my game play will be? Only my graphics card meets the reccomended specs :S

The AMD R9 series GPU is a good series. It's roughly the same power as a GTX 970 maybe a bit better. 8GB RAM is sitting on the minimum but should be OK. The issue could be your CPU. Planet Coaster requires a lot of CPU power that even high end CPU's with 4 cores 8 threads or 8 cores 16 threads and even high end GPU's like the GTX 1080 will see frame rate drops on bigger, more detailed, parks with over 5,000.

This game is much more resources demanding than GTA V or The Sims 4. You will be able to play the game, just not smoothly on 1920x1080 High settings on large detailed parks with 4,000+ people.

I think I will wait until I can upgrade to a better CPU and motherboard, I don't like running game at minimum settings :D

You'll be running at High settings. You'll have absolutely no problem running the game.

You'll be running at Medium settings. I used to have an R9 280 (specifically a 7950) and it ran the game well without any slow downs or visual issues. I did switch some of the options to performance settings instead of quality. The visuals will still be solid. It can handle the graphics. You definitely will not be running on high graphics settings though.

Your CPU should also handle the game fine. It's a little on the weak side, but the game is designed to handle multiple cores so you shouldn't have a problem. I'd give the game a try before deciding to upgrade any PC parts. See if the performance is acceptable to you before you spend a bunch of money on new stuff.

If you want to stay with AMD definitely try to hold out until next year. Zen could be amazing!

I just got a new computer for this game. I want to be able to run things max settings at 1080p but I'm not sure if I have the overclocked processor or not. My hardware info just said 3.4

win 10
Intel i7 6700 3.4gz 3401mhz quad core
16gb (it's ddr4 or sdr4 wanted 32 but 16 is max on my board)
geforce gtx 950

Can I run on ultra or should I be seeking out a computer that can do 32gb for the larger parks? better processor that can overclock to 4.0, better graphics card? Which one is gonna make the biggest difference, or all of the above?

scratch that last post. I found out my computer does overclock in 4.0ghz when it's actually running a game.

Intel i7 6700 4.0ghz 3401mhz quad core
16gb ddr4
geforce gtx 950

I was thinking of upgrading to 32gb ddr4 and geforce gtx 1070 while I can still return the parts for a full refund. Would the 32gb ram be overkill or would that help too?

You'll likely be able to play at Medium graphical settings. Your CPU is good, 16GB RAM is plenty (currently you only utilize 32GB if you're doing virtualization or heavy 3D sculpting), and the 950 GPU is also good. Benchmarks are telling me it's about on par with the AMD R9 280 / 7950. An Nvidia 1070 would let you play under maximum settings (this is what I now use).

Your build is fine. If money is burning a hole in your pocket then you can go with a stronger GPU. I would advise no changes to CPU or RAM. What you got is probably a good price to performance compromise.

Thanks. Yeah I figure the GPU would be the biggest difference maker. Though it's about a $250 difference. I'm going to be heading back when they get the 27" IPS monitor back in stock so I'll browse their graphics cards when I'm there.

Yes, I have been advised to hold out for Zen a few toimes and I am considering it, I definitely want to stick with AMD, I like the prices :D
I do need a new motherboard anyway, so I will be buying onme sooner or later.

I would love to order the game but if it doesn't run as I expected, I doubt it will be refundable and it's money I haven't got really. I think it's better to get a better PC build first.

Thanks for your advice anyway :)

Yes, you will be able to play Planet Coaster with that pc. It meets the minimum required specs which you can find here.

I'm stuck between two PC's the first is £300 cheaper, unsure which to go for?
