Yes I thought that this was a treasure hunt too, thinking that the title 'The Chapter Two Treasure Hunt' was meant as a clue that this might be a treasure hunt. But it is just a photo competition for paint jobs.

However, I cannot take photographs of the new features of Chapter Two. I'm an explorer tens of thousands light-years from the Bubble, the new features of Chapter Two are entirely irrelevant to me, and there is no reason for me to return to the Bubble for them. And any paint jobs I might have won should all have been free and player-customizable anyway. So a photo competition is not great. It is lame. And trying to pretend that it is a treasure hunt is even lamer.

I read it as meaning a portfolio of the four different subjects:

We want to see your best set of photos highlighting some of the amazing stuff the Chapter Two update has to offer! To enter, submit four (and only four!) screenshots showing:

• An Alliance Challenger
• A Krait
• A Thargoid (any type but bonus points will be given if you show one of the new Scouts!)
• An Installation

Yes, I would like to ask similar question, do we have to submit 4 photos? What If I have one that smartly combines three of the subjects like this:

As someone who cannot participate, I will give an unbiased answer ......

The rules issued by Will clearly state, submit four (and only four!) screenshots.

So even if every photo has an image of all four items required, you still have to submit 4 screenshots.

Installation can be one of the previous scientific, military, etc., installations which now have extra gameplay added.

And if you have any problems with that interpretation, please blame T.J.

EDIT - I believe my interpretation is correct, because it features in Will's announcement of Chapter 2, which says:

Installation Interactions
In a similar fashion to the Megaship interactions, which were introduced in Chapter One, Commanders will now be able to scan and interact with Space Installations.

(So it's probably best to take a pic of one "glowing" as you, or someone else, interacts with it.)

I think creativity is very important when it comes to photos, so I would suspect anyone able to get a screenshot of those four things in one place deserves to be rewarded anyway (hey! skins do not really cost any money to give, do they? :) ), so let no rules stop you pilots :)
