The Commanders - Camera Suite controls

The fact that the bindings admin allows you to set the same controls for the free camera as for flight seems to suggest to me that the intention is that the flight controls whilst in free camera mode should be disabled - yet they are not. Is this a bug or by design?
By design, as you can toggle between ship control and camera control.

Oh, they don't do that for me, and I misunderstood what you wrote. My bad then, that's a bug. Since you filed a bug report now, perhaps they'll fix it two weeks later, heh.

Exactly, so it must be a bug then that ship controls remain active whilst in camera control.

Yes, definitely not designed this way. When you enter the free camera it should disable the ship controls, you are essentially piloting a drone camera with your own ship as it's focus.

Like a few others posted above, I too have the problem that when I enter camera suite when in my SRV and then enter free camera mode, my SRV starts driving forward. Pain in the behind, as I just painstakingly positioned the SRV exactly right for a cool shot and next second everything gets messed up. If anyone knows a solution other than buying an extra controller (everything mapped on my HOTAS now), please let me know and earn my eternal gratitude!

I have a workaround for this ... if this happens when you enter free camera, toggle the lock to vehicle, then apply the handbrake, then toggle the vehicle lock back off again.

Can't rep you at the moment (must spread some before etc) but thanks for the workaround, I'll try that when I'll be in my SRV again. I hope it'll get fixed though, workarounds shouldn't be necessary in the first place. There's no reason why the SRV would throttle up, I checked all my bindings like 10 times for conflicts but can't find any.

for now also using the handbrake workaround. I set it before entering external cam. when in free cam mode you can release the handbrake without the need to exit the camera mode as the keybinding still works.

as mentioned before, i have the same issue in Super Cruise but not in Normal Cruise. Can anyone confirm that as well?

Ok, for some reason the workaround doesn't work for me. Switching to free cam while pressing the had brake completely ignores me pressing the hand brake, so I'm still accelerating forward even with 0 throttle. Annoying as hell.

The thing is, setting up controls is one thing. Actually using the camera is another. I found out the hard way when all of a sudden planets (and stars) were going in some kind of egg shape. This was caused by zooming out to 0.0x in free camera mode.

When I increased the distance (which is what I should have done), things went better. Here is the difference:
Egg like ammonia world here (zoomed out to 0.0x):

And a ringed ammonia, camera distance way out and then zoomed in:

Much better ;)

I'm seeing this too.

I do admit I need to play around with this a bit but wonder if this has anything to do with native resolution of your screen/GPU combo?

OP has stated 1920x1080 and he's seeing constant aspect ratio no matter the zoom (unless I missread things)

My resolution is 2560x1440 and I do.

Be interested to hear what resolutions others have set and if they're seeing aspect ratio distortion (egg shaped planets)

My ship goes full throttle in supercruise when I switch to free cam. Change of trousers time if you're near a star

Hi
Thanks for putting this guide together. Is there any possibility of doing an update? There are a couple of things that have changed and I'm finding it hard to get the camera to work properly.

Many thanks
Fly safe :)

Is there a workaround for the srv/supercruise throttle bug? Note that there's no handbrake in supercruise ;)

I didn't manage to find a bug report, was it ever reported?

Hi all,

I haven't been playing very much recently, however, last weekend I went for a wander round one of the alien sites out in The Dark Region and gave the camera suite a go as I had seen someone saying changes had been made during the latest update. Everything still works as it should for me except for free cam in supercruise where my ship accelerates.

I have logged a ticket with Frontier support and will post up here what they come back with.

Cheers

In supercruise you can use reverse throttle as a handbrake :)
Thanks. I tried it but it didn't work :(

What's the ticket link? Or is this on the support website not the bug forum?
