Now all I need to decide is which one is going to be my main now.
Codex Discoveries are the 50k credit book entries you get for finding something in a new sector for the first time. Universal Cartography data is what you are thinking about, which the post is silent on.Precisely what I was thinking.
Both mentioned in OP and both could have been achieved in Legacy since the split. If those are copied over to the Live system, then do the codex entries from Legacy overwrite or append to the codex entries made in Live? This also raises questions over 1st discoveries.

If you use the same email address.
However, I believe you receive a free copy of PC version 4.0 of ED for the transfer. You can link this to a separate email address and run your console cmdr from there without impacting your current pc account. This will give you 2 ED installations to manage and if you want to purchase Odyssey, you'll need to do that for each installation.
Will we be given the option to change our commander's name, even if the current name isn't in use?
That sounds like your console commander was "Northpin", and you already had a PC commander named "Northpin". If that's the case, the option had to be there. My console commander's name is definitely not in use on PC, but I'd like to change it during the transfer. Based on the OP, the option to rename may only be available if the name is already in use on PC. They didn't state if the option is there even if the name isn't in use on PC.The option is there - i did if for my transferred XB account - i couldnt predict a Live/Legacy split at the time and i thought it would be weird to have 2 Northpin commanders, each with its own carrier and each with their own discoveries.
Now i kinda regret it...

Good to know, thanks for the clarification.Nope, the option was there regardless and i voluntarily opted to change my commander name during the copy process
The portal itself doesnt check for name duplication, so if the chosen cmdr name is already taken you'd get an error and you have to fix the cmdr name and try again
Precisely what I was thinking.

So you haven't played on console since June last year? If so I'd imagine that yes there is no transfer possible. But if you built up a new account on console since then, it might be worth your while to ask support, they are really very nice!Uh, I should had cleared this up. I already own odyssey and have a progressed commander. I just spent 3 days engineering and collecting mats, and now I have no plans to start again. I also remember Frontier told me I cannot transfer because I did a wealth transfer in June 2022. Sorry you all had to read this much but I wanted to clarify.![]()
I hope that isn't the case. My PS4 commander has tons of progress, but hasn't been touched in 2-3 years. I'm hoping to transfer it to a fresh account on PC so I can continue. So you haven't played on console since June last year? If so I'd imagine that yes there is no transfer possible. I don't foresee any problems for you in that case..I hope that isn't the case. My PS4 commander has tons of progress, but hasn't been touched in 2-3 years. I'm hoping to transfer it to a fresh account on PC so I can continue.
I'll login to the PS4 account tonight, just in case.
You should already be getting emails every 2 -3 weeks... if your not getting emails to the registered account address then you need to contact support to get your email address re-enabled...Please, can I sign up somewhere to get an email when it opens? Is there an actual date or will it open on April 1 (April Fool's day)?
Thank you Frontier for doing this...not all of us console users had a chance to transfer at the first window...
Thanks. I will get that sorted. I don't seem to get any mail at all from fdev. You should already be getting emails every 2 -3 weeks... if your not getting emails to the registered account address then you need to contact support to get your email address re-enabled...
Having the email address of the fdev account paired to console account should be monitored is needed for password and account recovery... This is independant to any forum contact and use...
This should have been happening already since you created the Fdev account... this way they get to show you every 2-3 weeks all the EDO content on PC...

Ask them to re add you to the Elite email list...
They sent emails last september telling people it was live... the title of the email was
Elite Dangerous: Console Copy Portal opens tomorrow!
Yes, you and Varonica are probably right. By codex it’ll just refer to the pitiful payout for personal discoveries. I was referring to the entries for 1st discoveries in the codex. Both in the ‘Reported’ section and in the biggest, smallest etc galactic discoveries stats. They most likely won’t appear or else the carto info would be wrong. But we’ll see what happens come Monday.Codex Discoveries are the 50k credit book entries you get for finding something in a new sector for the first time. Rationally I don’t expect them to transfer over cartographic data due to the crossover issues, also landfall vs Horizons planets being generated different in the engine.
