General / Off-Topic The Covid vaccine must be mandatory ?

Yup, it probably contains nano bots that turn you into a commie
Why? That country's an opportunistic capitalist dictatorship nowadays. :)
And if anyone had such tech at their disposal, the whole planet would just bow to those overlords, wherever they came from.
Now, how do you get these nanobots to propagate without 'grey goo effect', hmm? I'll make you a governor or something if you give me the conclusove clue... :p

I prefer what we have but most people in the USA prefer what they have.
I would prefer even more freedom of expression. The US is robust in some protections, but very prudish in others. You could well get arrested if your sex education textbook from the early 70s runs afoul of anti-child pornography laws, or you decide to take your shirt off on a beach, if you're a woman.

Of course, government representatives and tax payer dollars should never be allowed to push counter-factual positions. That's not a freedom of expression issue, that's government malfeasance issue.

He feels he is being pushed into an opinion and it’s making him feel resentment where he hasn’t before.
I think this is becoming quite common. Obviously, not knowing your Dad, I can't speak for him, but anything that gets force fed can lead to ill feelings. Whether it's over representing certain couples on TV adverts, or a 'reminder' of our terrible history wedged into a soap opera, like some political Product Placement, it is patronising and assumes that it's audience has a lower IQ than it's producers. I think his frustration is understandable.

There will be those that eagerly judge anyone that feels like this, with a plethora of labels from their glossary of 'Shamed Into Silence'.

I think your Dad was just getting fed up with the over reach on TV these days, as opposed to objecting to same sex dancing couples per se. I think that's what he meant by 'for the wrong reasons'. I'm saying this because it's how I find myself feeling if I'm in a house with a TV on. I'm slightly arachnophobic, but I keep it to myself just in case someone from Twitter calls the cops.

I really don't like the bloke so don't get me wrong.. Most of the tech companies have their political leanings and they aren't right wing. So they have codes of conduct that might conflict with other peoples codes of conduct. To put it another way, imagine a world where Twitter or YouTube censored Human rights activists because they support .
If he wanted to use their services he should have complied with their rules, we all do that just to post on this forum. Mostly in my case anyway :D.

Nobody polices the internet, so the companies that supply the service end up doing it. YouTube recently admitted that a huge number of recent terrorists were radicalized as a direct result of using their service but that it's a price they are willing for humanity to have to pay in blood for the benefit of having YouTube. That was shortly before they ditched Qanon and given the FBI's view of them probably not unrelated, apparently they are expecting some Qanon types to go off the deep end no matter what actually happens with the election as none of it is reality based and they've already shown a tendency for murder, kidnap and other nastiness.

I think everyone should be allowed to speak and people on the correct side of the argument should find a way to win people over. I don't agree with the idea that if someone says something you don't like then you shut them up. Unfortunately, the sort of people that are being fooled into thinking vaccines don't work or that people in rubber dinghies are taking over the country are doing so because social media is so unregulated.
Surely freedom of speech includes a companies right to say "you are a dangerous idiot and we are giving you the boot".

The fix I think is critical thinking, if people were more able to recognise obvious cobblers like the anti-vax conspiracies it wouldn't be an issue. We only really start to teach that properly at an undergraduate level though as pre-internet book learning was all pretty much learn by rote and don't question. Our system of education has lagged behind the technology and is still stuck firmly in believe what you are told mode which makes some of us vulnerable to cults, scams and crazies.

I bet you are Dutch? Dutch people are confusing... liberal on the face of it, actually quite harsh and conservative when pushed enough 😛

Thanks for your reply. I think a lot of people feel like he does and how you explained. I’m not offended by it. 👍

I'd feel different if I lived in Canada, Europe, AUS, pretty much anywhere other than the US, where the CDC and FDA have been so corrupted that I won't trust anything out of my own government until the current leadership is replaced and we have a solid period of reestablishing the public trust. At least we're close enough to the election now that Trump isn't in any rush to push out a vaccine in hopes of staying in office. So the short term threat of having some half-baked snake-oil "vaccine" forced upon the American populace seems to have passed.

As far as I've been able to tell, thanks to my jerkwad relatives who are exposing my genome to public scrutiny because they are suckers for stupid television commericals, Dutch is one of the few things I'm not!

They are capable of anything to raise dollars.

Indeed...

They are running propaganda campaigns suggesting western vaccines are dangerous yet they are the first to put one forward to the WHO. They launch chemical weapons attacks in Europe, invade countries but deny it (can’t be Russians, no flags on the uniforms... yeah lol).

They shoot down airliners and deny it; Just because their own people are gullible doesn’t mean we all are. They are doing a great job of destabilising us but I don’t think any western government is going to use that “vaccine”.
