The dangers of contributing in the "Discussion" thread

There's always been proof that they hear us, but the announcement is somewhat proof that they aren't listening to what we'd actually like out of them. What we get is their own interpretation based on what they want to give. We were given crumbs when people are dying for a full piece of toast and some butter on top. It's good that exciting news is coming, but the news that news is coming is not news. If any of that makes sense. :p

There are specific things that people would like to see or hear and since they don't get it, they continue beating the salty drums of forum doom. I suppose it depends on your perspective, since an argument could be made that it's just the nature of things here and expectations should be lowered, even if for one's own sanity.

Well, at least we know we shouldn't expect atmospheric flights anytime soon - I was hoping for that, so this at least made me to lower my expectations. Gameplay and stuff is good, but not as good as a descent to a gas giant. :)

I honestly don't understand this. Based on my own (entirely subjective) reading of the forums, users split pretty much down the middle - those who want a ton of new stuff (space legs, atmospheric landings, hero-of-the-hour storylines), and those who want development of existing features at the expense of new stuff. So they've announced that they'll see out the current season, then do current feature development and polishing. And (again based on a subjective reading of the forums) a small but vocal minority is bitter and twisted about it. Short of giving everyone everything immediately, the devs can't win.

And to the point of this thread, in this sub-forum, they have at least given us the hope that exploration will get a buff. Which is great news, no?

I'm referencing the depth in the information that we'd like to hear. The announcement was that there would be another announcement and that they'd be revisiting base mechanics in the future. Essentially, not much was said, which is a bit of a disappointment if you've been waiting for more concrete details. I did say though, in that thread, that it was good that we'd hear more soon. I'm rather neutral about the announcement... On the one hand, stuff is coming, on the other hand, I have no idea what. It's basically what I've come to expect so I can't be upset, even if I would like a bit more.

As I said, it's about perspective. I expected more development, I expected them to revisit base mechanics, I expected that 2.4 was coming soon, so I've learned nothing from the announcement. Hope that helps.
