The Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition

Departure from Witch Head Science Centre Saturday October 13 15:20
VzAtisY.png

I've been thinking about doing a circumnavigation trip expedition for some time and the planning is coming along nicely, the route is done (for now), thanks to goemon, Henkka, Hanekura, Allitnil, et.al.

The planned duration is 10-12 months, pace will be a little less than 1KLy/day. Departure date is Saturday, Oct. 14, 3303, 16:00 IGT. Official meetup intervals are planned to be biweekly and about 13KLy apart.

You're free to fly as you wish; alone, in a wing, just with friends, or any mode you may choose. We would love to see you at the meetups, should you choose not to come, that's fine with us too. The meetups happens in the FleetComm private group. Currently there's no Fleetcomm private group for Xbox & PS4 CMDRs, as a suggestion the Moebius PG for the respective platforms can be used for the meetups. This is a suggestion only and CMDRs may choose whatever mode they desire.

The roster is closed and no new entries is accepted.
All CMDRs in all platforms (PC, Max, Xbox & PS4) are welcome to join, and some already have. Add a post to this thread, if you wish to join us.

Thank you, CMDR. I would invite you, had I not known that you already made the trip :)

If anyone wishes to join or meet along the route, they're most welcome.

The pace on this trip is going to be a leisurely one and I have not yet decided if I have started in earnest. Still, I currently find myself 3kly from Sol gathering mats and pointed towards the first waypoint

Well, as i have mentioned in few other topics before, im planning on this also. Not earlier than 2.4 though and depending on what Fdev promises, i might postpone it even further if anything exciting is coming. But most likely my start date is sometime after 2.4.
Also, im going out with my Vette, heres my currently planned build, might change yet though. Most likely my jump range will not be that good as most of the values are done with the "best" value, except FSD, i really have 54% FSD.

https://eddp.co/u/ZtTaFx5A

I got fed up with Anacondas stupidly op jump range on my trip to BP, not even the Abyss gave me any excitement. Also, its one of my explorer principals, "never go twice with the same ship". ;)
Im planning on traveling as much on the edges as my range allows me to go. Mat collecting is something i must begin to do soon, i currently have still some mats after BP trip, but with 30ly range, i think i need much more..
Also, im probably skipping Colonia and all the other outposts, as i want to get the real feel of how does it feel to be in space for a year without seeing any civilization. :D
My planned duration for this circumnavigation is no less than 365 days / 12 months, maybe more but no less.

Macros, if you want ill go with you. And if you want to wait my 30ly Vette every once in a while. :D
But as i said, im not leaving the bubble before 2.4 drops.

Hi CMDR, that sounds very good. I don't mind waiting for your Federal Corvette on route, and I can certainly wait to start until post 2.4 which was my original plan. Leaves me more time for gathering mats.

A company of 2 it currently is.

That app looks handy, what's the name?

EDEngineer. Never leave the docks without it. Best app ever.

https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-to-track-your-blueprint-progress-in-realtime

As you can see, you can make a "shopping list" and you can get a voice telling you when you have collected all the mats on your shopping list.
It keeps automatically track on what mats and data you have and THAT makes it number one app in my books.

Indeed, just two guys on a space trip atm; however, anyone who wants to join is most welcome :)

Considering the limited jump range of a large percentage of cmdrs currently on the trip, modifications to the route will probably be necessary and warranted.

I know theres still many months before we are on our way, but couldnt help myself testfitting my Vette. Im quite happy with the range, i still have some modifications to do but those wont affect jump range.

Ah cool, I'm glad to see there are others out there thinking about flying around the edge too :D

I just set off on my own circumnavigation trip on May 20th. I've been slowly upgrading my Anaconda over the last few months, and while it can always be better, I'm happy with it's current 63.78LY [66.86LY]. Figured it was time to test it out.

path1.png

I traveled almost strait towards the outer (southern?) edge and started making my way around. On a whim I decided to double back and visit the Zurara again, before heading back to roughly where I left of the edge. I spent a little time around the end of the R-R line, since I'd never been there before, (My first time in the rift was the day the Zurara was discovered.) The last entry on Dommaarraa's R-R waypoint list was DRYO AEB NG-Y D1, so I made a stop there. I've just recently left the SPONGOU FA-A E2 Planetary Nebula.

I guess my question to you folks is, while planning your trips, have you marked anything special you plan to visit? Are there any 'must see' sights along the way? I'm having a great time visiting unexplored systems, but I'd hate to miss seeing something spectacular discovered by someone else while I'm out there. I don't mind a few thousand light year detour if there's more known nebulae or unusual star/planet combinations out there.

I don't know If I'll make it all the way around. If things start to heat up in the bubble I may have to make a B line back to inhabited space.

I wish you both the best of luck on your trips when you get out there :)

Im planning on using EDSM for spotting anything worth visiting.

Looks good to me, all the poi's near the rim anyway. Not sure I can make the pois in the center though :)

Come to think of it; those pois on the rim would be great waypoints, Henkka?

Nice! Maybe I'll run into you on the rim as we pass in the night!

That would be great, CMDR.
