The devs have we done it upside down?!?!

Thats devastating and WILL hurt sales massively.

I realy liked the alpha and was absolutly sure that we would see massive improvements with the final release. Sadly they didnt delivered.

FDEV earned this, absolutly.
Considering how poorly the launch has gone, and how much damage it is doing to the existing Horizons environment, I'd say 34% positive in incredibly generous and indicative of a loyal fanbase.

The real question is, did she start an angry thread on their forum?

I dunno about her mother, but it's certainly something people should do.

Multiple people on Steam for instance had their installation issues answered by asking in the forums. People who tried to refund got responses on how to go about the process.

The idea that anyone complaining is just an "angry, entitled customer" is again just corporate marketing tactics to stifle complaints. They pretend that those who don't complain are better/more mature, so they can get away with not fixing issues.

There’s a difference between asking advice and complaining.

And it’s not like 1/2 the people complaining were predicting exactly this situation at the end of Alpha, yet the chose not to get a refund then.

Ranting off on the forum will have no effect. Email them, take consumer advice, take them to court even if you think that you have a case.

But forum ranting has a long history of achieving absolutely nothing! - Other than making the ranter even more angry.

A lot - perhaps the majority - of purchasers got no warning. They are not reading the forums or following every piece of Elite: Odyssey News. Many simply bought on launch day because it was on the Steam front page.

Moreover, they were not "asking for advice". They were complaining, but they got help anyway.

Because contrary to gaming culture tropes, most people are helpful and don't naturally dismiss people who are in distress.

More importantly, the idea that "ranting off has no effect" is precisely the state of helplessness all this "You are more mature by not complaining" corporate marketing wants to achieve. You are their end goal. They want a quiet, helpless consumer who simply buys their product without a choice.

Voicing complaints in fact absolutely has an effect. Because it tells people with similar problems that they are not alone. Most people who suffer product problems in fact never even complain - because they have been beaten down by this corporate message that "complaining means you are weak and immature" - and so they blame themselves even when it's the product that is at fault.

Good morning all

A few months ago, Frontier released an Odyssey video trailer. We saw (screenshot from the video) with the words "IN GAME FOOTAGE":

We see a beautiful ice planet, a superb blue sky ... And the name of the planet: WOLF 1311 B-3-B

Since then, I've always said to myself that when Odyssey comes out, it's one of the first planets I will see.

Today destination WOLF 1311 B3B, and the .....:

So disappointed, seeing angry with frontier, I didn't bother to take other captures, or even get off the ship. It is the same everywhere on the planet. I did launch odyssey, practically everything in graphics option, it is indeed the same planet. So if I did something wrong tell me, but I left the game itself.
if frontier reads me, do you take the players for fools ????
how can we arrive at such a difference ?? especially going from good to very bad ??

Your CMDS opinions?
You're right in that it doesn't look like the images from the Pre-Alpha. One of the main reasons may be the the planet is NOT an Ice Planet, it's a Rocky Body. Also the Atmosphere is Ammonia, which would account for the colour you are seeing.

I can only guess that for Pre-Alpha, they designated the planet as an Ice planet with a different atmosphere makeup, in order to test things out.
So to sum it up basically we are comparing 2 different types of planet / atmosphere makeup, hence the difference.

There are however plenty of Ice bodies out there and some of them do look like the images shown, not all, but that's to be expected due to all the factors that make up a planet.

Che out the Images thread in Odyssey, and you'll se some. If I get the chance, I'll post a few here, so you can see what they actually look like.

It’s not like it was talked about on every YouTube video, or constantly discussed in game on system chat...

But stay angry. Hope it works for you. 🙂

Yes, because anyone who points out that lots of gamers didn't see any of that must be angry, right? All of those people in Steam simply asking for installation instructions must have been raging at their keyboards, instead of simply asking for help, right?

Claiming other people are angry is not an "I win" button. If anything, it's just you having misplaced ideas of superiority.

No some just go around gaslighting people who enjoy the game claiming they’re like Ponzi scheme victims.

Whatever float your boat.

It's not gaslightng - again it's simple human psychology.

I mean surely - you've encountered people in your life who've fallen under the spell of an MLM scam?

As the former victim of domestic abuse, I suggest you go speak to a therapist. Telling people they have a psychological problem because they don’t agree with you is right out of the abusers hand book.

I didn't say you had a psychological problem. I was describing what is the mentality of a scam victim.

Really, I didn't even know who you were when I made that Ponzi Scheme post, and yet you assumed it was targeted to you.

Like claiming all criticisms are just angry posters?

Maybe consider that a former victim can themselves end up victimizing others. It's indeed one thing therapists are supposed to tell abuse victims to watch out for.
See, I didn't read it as that, just that you can criticise something without making an angry post, and that angry posts tend not to achieve anything. See, it's possible to have different views and responses to someone else.

Ah yes this is not implying that angry posts are being made.

Or this:

It’s not like it was talked about on every YouTube video, or constantly discussed in game on system chat...

Or this:

Looking at your posts it’s you you have a superiority complex. Whatever makes you feel better. 🤷‍♂️

Really, the second point was particularly egregious. Again, it's simply a fact that not everyone watches every Elite video religiously. Indeed, I encountered multiple people who didn't even know the Odyssey and Horizons client were no longer merging.

There is no anger in that post, just a simple statement of the facts.

That you treat people who did not watch all the videos as just "angry" complaints is the problem. That's very much lacking in empathy.
