Docking computers are terrible. When I find the station that makes them, I'm dropping so many UA's there...

I love my DC! It's one of the many things FD got right in my mind. I remember the early days. Only then do you realise how cool the DC is now.

Lost already new to all of this

I know this is major stupid but im concerned about my forums account I could not find the place to put the activation ID code????? is this a major issue or a non issue the emails did say to put it on the page the link takes you to. once there it would not allow me to enter it anywhere. but im here I think and the other thing is how do you create a new topic all I see is reply options?? I know haha but like I said im not use to forum never have really used them before sorry

Docking computers are nice if nothing else but to give you a little break. BUT--don't take your eyes off of them, they WILL mess up from time to time. -so be ready to take over rather quick. just engage the throttle and the auto pilot turns off.

Lately I am finding the docking computer on both my 'Conda and Corvette have a nasty habit of hovering to the side of the landing pad for inordantly long periods. It has become such regular behaviour I am back to manual docking as I can't trust the DC to ever put the ship down on the pad.

It sits there with gear down after having smoothly approached the pad and decended, then for some reason it positions itself just outside the landing area to one side, having glided across the optimal position.

Anyone else getting the same effect?

I'm having the same problem after todays update with my FAS!!! Hovers to the right side of the pad!!! Some things obviously gone out of sync!!

is docking really that hard?

I've always considered the docking computer module to be a joke module. I didn't think people actually used it for anything unless they were trying to commit suicide.

Yep, it's happening in my Cutter, exactly the same (only after the new patch today, incidentally).

If you have docked thousands of times since the beta of ED its not about "being hard", its just about laziness and quality of life :D
if you dont care for the module slot, the DC is great to relax and do other things like checking trade routes, galaxy map, chat, etc.

It is very reliable ... but after the patch today the landing on surface ports seems a bit slower than usual?

Of course docking isn't hard, but sometimes it's nice to kickback and let it take over for a few moments. Most of the time, it's fine.

Anyway, if you don't want to use the docking computer, then don't. Personally, I don't care.

No one said docking was that hard or even hard at all. The joke is you deciding to insinuate that players using it are finding it hard to dock.

There are many varied reasons why some players use it that have nothing to do with skill. If you think it is a joke module, and by your posting you seem to have never used such a useless item (in your high opinion) then why bother to post about it.

Mostly because i consider its functionality as relevant to care about as the price of hydrogen fuel at stations.

Ha ha, I am parked in a station looking at numerous NPC ships hovering to the right of their landing pads, not moving! Must be a widespread virus, infecting all docking computers. Could be a prelude to a Thargoid invasion, taking over our ships!! (Well, it happened with the Cylons in BSG, so you never know...)
