The Double Engineered FSD is Insane

I just got my double engineered (grade 5 long range + fast boot) FSD and I was stunned by how better it is than my already grade 5 long range engineered one. The optimal mass value is way higher so my jump range immediately increased significantly. I went and put Mass Manager experimental effect on it and it became even more insane.

Previously my exploration Phantom could jump 67.71 Ly with a full fuel tank. Now...

I already went and unlocked another one from the Tech Broker. This will help a LOT with future exploration trips.

As far as I know you can unlock it from the Tech Broker, even if you didn't take part in the CG.

I thought so at first too, so didn't take part in the CG, what it being over 28k LY from my position. But then decided to make a quick jaunt to Colonia, as the module became available at tech brokers. Luckily I was just shy of 14k LY away, now only 131 jumps remaining to Tir.

Where are they? Are they so new that even INARA and EDEngineer don't list them?

Yep, apparently they are so new. Any human tech broker will offer them, I got mine from Narentes or something. I didn't take part in the CG either, so yes, they are for all.

I think you mean drive size class, as engineering doesn't go above grade 5.

I think all class FSDs should should get the double engineering. I don't think it will make an Anaconda have much more of a crazy jump range. With a neutron boost it will still never get any where near 400 light years.

By the CG? I thought the module was decoupled from the CG. And no, it's module size that I had in mind (the number before the class, e.g. 3A)

It's a 5A only (for any ship that you can fit it on). Available from human tech brokers for the price of materials instead of credits.

Well, you have two and a half weeks left, but even after that you still can get one at the H-TB near you, you will just have to fork over 18-26-26-28 instead of 10-10-10-12. See this nice post from AceMcKool

And pardon me if this is a stupid question, but can fleet carriers perhaps have a tech broker (human) installed, just like all those other modules (shop, legal)?

If I were to guess, I'd say that they consciously made it class 5 only to give those ships a buff that are actually supposed to be the best explorers, and not that ridiculous mess of stats that's the Anaconda. More than twice as big as a Chieftain but same hull mass and same armour hardness -- find the error.
