I guess the system works a bit like the real world. You may be knighted but unless the majority are happy with you and trust you, then you'll still have a low reputation. You can still be a knight but also earn yourself a bad reputation for instance by failing or abandoning missions and promises you've made to the masses

I was plugging along just like you were, mission after mission but no change in reputation. Then all the sudden, one day in the middle of a long supercruise it changed to friendly. Someone suggested that it may be a bug to do with mission backlog, who knows.

Mission Impossible. Missions give Random Reputation and Influences.

I spend the last days fighting in Durius. I fought independent. I did not take missions but just fought in the war zones for the Durius Dominon Faction and turned in the bonds. I made lot of money but found out later that I didn't help the Dominions with the war. It looks like without mission you don't contribute to the war.
I don't think that makes sense but whatever that is not the problem.
-
The problem I figured when I decided to become alied 2 days ago with the Durius Dominon Faction. Yes all my action in the warzone had 0 effect on reputations which isn't bad. But 0 effect on influence is bad because that means 0 effect on the war.
-
Anyway.. so I started to take some missions and became friendly and the next mission I turned in despide that I was very carefully when picking them not to choose the wrong faction gave the points the wrong faction and put me back to neutral.
Then I went bounty hunting and worked my way back up to friendly. Next was that I hit a police which fined me 150cr and put me back to neutral.
I believe I did that twice.
-
So I fought more careful and made it back to friendly then I took missions again and you can guess it.. one was a faulty one and put me back to neutral again.
-
I went back to bounty hunting.. reading that the wanted spawn in planet resource rings now and you can go anywhere. Now that was welcome so I could avoid hitting a police. In about 3 such hunting session I turned in about 400k bounty in total but the influence didn't move an inch anymore not even got a blue arrow. Just stuck on neutral.
-
I picked up 3 war zone missions. Whenever I returned to the station I picked up one. So I did those 3 and returned.
I turned in the 3 and you guess it again 1 was faulty and gave me negative reputation.
-
After 2 days now I ended with neutral and a red downward arrow.
-
Whenever I turned in a war mission he outcome looked very random. somtimes you increase the influence but lsoe reputtation sometimes both faction gets points sometimes your enemy gets the points..
It's really close to random with a bit more chance for your faction. However that little bit more chance for your faction doesnt help you since the negative point have a much much stronger impact.
1 faulty mission kills about 5 or more good mission you turned in.
-
I don't know what Frontier did but it's really frustrating that something so important can be so buggy in so very elementar things.
I recommend Frontier to check back my mission activity of my last 2 days to get an idea how buggy it really is for us players.
My only target this 2 days was to improve my reputation to alied with that faction and it was impossible.
-
Not that it matters so much to me..but if this simple step turned out to be impossible due to faulty missions how should it ever be possible to change a system?

Fyi there is a minor bug that the status page after a mission will tell you your major faction rep has changed *before* the '4' status panel tells you the same thing. E.g. a mission or two earlier. I don't know if this is a sync delay or a small calculation difference.

Fed Navy Rank and Reputation

So I want to get join the Fed navy. How ever I can't seem to find any Navy missions. I have checked Fed stations and even gone to combat zones and fought for the fed. Am I missing something? Is there a station or mission that starts it all?

I've built up my fed rank by just doing missions for fed aligned corporations. Then you will get fed navy missions who will give you permits to locked down systems which you then goto and do the same. I'm current a Chief Petty Office with the Feds by doing this. You will also get Friendly status which shows fed stations and ships as green on your hud

Status/Rep panel shows different reputation than Mission summery?

After I finished a delivery mission for the Empire League in the Liabeze system, the mission summary showed that I was now "allied" with the Empire League:

However, when I checked my Status/Reputation panel afterwards, I was only "friendly" with the Empire League:

Is this a known bug? Or did I miss something again about the reputation system?

I have lost track about status of the reputation system after all the issues/question that have come up in the forum lately...

one of the screens on the left display shows all your stats, with a "XX time since last update"

I am guessing you need to go to that screen for it to request a refresh from the game server (and RP wise galnet) to update everything in your ship

I think the mission results is instant on your client and the status on the right panel is updated from the central game server. It might take a few minutes for your results to be processed and relayed through the game.

Thanks a lot, guys. You were right, when I logged in again today the panel on the right side was updated and showed me as "Allied" with the Empire League.

But isn't this a bug, then? I mean, the server should be synchronized with the client as soon as the client as updated stats that concern the server as well, no?

I'm a bit puzzled by how the reputation system works

Note the top (Patron's Principles) and bottom (Patron's Principles) faction names - how is that even possible ? (in case you can't make it out, the reputation with the last one is 'friendly' and is actually going down).

Liabeze system in Empire space in case anyone is wondering.

I don't know, the reputation system isn't very clear, I've just been trying to avoid ing anyone off 'till I figure it out. Having X2 Patron's Principles on your faction tab sounds like a bug to me.

Looks like a bug/glitch/oversight where there are two minor factions with the same generated name.

I'd send a ticket, if you haven't already, and hopefully it'll get fixed.

What about reputation?

Hello

I worried about reputation system.

It I play with Empire since the release. Made a lot of bounty, a lot of trade.

I'm friendly with some factions know, but always neutral with Empire until Sunday.

Looking at my right panel I have the suprise to see that I became friendly with Empire...Finally. So, I'm happy.

Leaving the game at night. I reopened it on Monday and what my surprise...I became neutral again with Empire...What???

So, I am at Meliontit. I see a conflict zone near Abe Hub. SO I decide to see what in. I take missions and fight for Empire faction against an independant one. And what again? I made a lot of kill on Empire side and my reputation did not progress but worst I have the little red down arrow on Empire line.

FD, can you please explain clearly how this f. k..g reputation system works (if it worked either) and what is the benefit to become friendly with a major faction apart to have all minor factions friendly with us.

Hate that you get scanned all the time! It should be much more limited. Scanning is an invasive procedure. It's like I'm getting stopped by the police and they then just ransack my car, without any suspicions, orders or anything. Scans sees everything, if I have slaves, Imperial slaves, gold, a new lover, a hooker on the side, or if me and my beloved wife are playing some fun games. I feel undressed every time I get scanned by the feds. I can understand the "random" scans when I enter their stations, but in the middle of space? Every time I'm at a mining feel, in the middle of a fight?!? Even stopped in supercruise?!?! I demand a ransack order for my next scan!
Unless this is the next person scanning my ship, and they find nothing, I will sue!

Sounds like 21st century America....What's the problem? -_-
