Is there some way of pro-rata calculating how much I'd need to get in the new system to make Elite Plus please? I was trying hard tonight, but at just gone midnight, I am going to have to give in I hope this will limit the amount of time I need to spend in the new world before I can retire - I just can't leave it without Elite Plus!

The thing is, the amount of scanning you need to do for Elite Plus will remain the same: it's just that with the increase in payouts, the profits you'll get from that will increase. The point is that what you need to do remains the same throughout, but since I can only use profits from exploration, the Elite Plus amount has to be adjusted whenever payouts and/or rank requirements change. (The latter didn't in the beta.)
So let's see, in your case... You're at 498 million rounded up, Elite Plus would have been 600 million before C4, so the difference is 102 million. After C4, you'd need an extra (2500M/600M)*102M = 425 million Cr in scan profits. To put things into perspective, another way: before, you'd need around a hundred more first discovered WWTCs / ELWs, after, you'd need around a hundred more first discovered WWTCs / ELWs.
Of course, there's still the slim possibility that payouts and rank requirements might have changed since the last beta. In that case, the credit amount will change, the number of scans won't.

Thanks very much Marx, that is good to know.
I hadn't really appreciated that the number of scans would remain the same, that is a good point to remember. I'm currently in a fruitful area for CFT worlds and interesting gas-giant arrangements, so hopefully they will add up quite quickly.
It's a significant increase in profits; at this rate, we will enter hyper-inflation rather than hyper-space!

Hit Elite rank after surviving my trip to Beagle and reaching Colonia last sunday
Did the last 12% in 3.3 and made Exploration Elite on Saturday. Only took around 1,500 hours.

Unfortunately, I have some bad news. First, it looks like the stat screen doesn't include the Commander name now: going to need something else to go with it.
However, more importantly: sorry, but it seems you have missed that with the massive payout increase in Chapter Four, the credits required for Elite Plus status have changed. After all, payouts have gone through the roof, so to maintain parity in exploration done, it had to be increased to 2.5 billion. See this post for an explanation. I just forgot to include this in the OP: my bad on this, and I've fixed it now.
That said, if you can prove that you did get 600 millions worth in scans before the update dropped, then that's all good.
Mind you, exploration payouts are probably bugged right now, and since I don't know whether the rarest finds should be 2.7-3 million or twice that (both do happen), the current number (2.5 billion Cr) could still change. Frankly, payouts are a bit of a mess now.

During the transition period I see three choices:
Hard line: Any Cmdr presenting their stats after December 11th needs to meet the new criteria or present evidence of their pre-3.3 stats for pro-rata contribution,
A period of grace: Give the benefit of doubt & allow Cmdrs to estimate how much the 3.3 changes made,
Precise: Those Cmdrs that did not have a stats screengrab from just before 3.3 released could request an accurate final 3.2 stat record & submit it in some verifiable way (screengrab of an e-mail from FDev support).
I don't envy your dilemma marx, nor those of Cmdrs without an accurate way to determine how much value was added after the 3.3 update.
