I am preparing to set out on a longer expedition, but as of yet I have not collected enough to get the ASP, still in a CobraM3. What I am really looking to accomplish is to go far enough to get my tag on one of the 400 billions stars in the game (they can't all be discovered yet, right?). Should I wait, will I find myself at an insurmountable gap, or is it possible to get decently far in the ship I have? Anybody have a suggested direction to find as of yet undiscovered systems? What must one do to get credited with the find, scan and then detailed scan every body in the system, or is the star alone enough?

Thanks in advance for the seasoned A's to my noob Q's.

Have a look at this:

Switch around the extra fuel tanks and the AFMU if you want a cheaper build with even more total range.

I just wanted to throw one of my latest finds on here.

i've just spent two weeks heading in one direction into the wilderness where clearly no-one has been before as every system i enter is a first discovery, obviously i'm going to keep quiet about my location until I get back and sell the data :)

but now im out here in the lonely black abyss, im not sure weather to continue or come back as i still have an itch to scratch and buy a clipper, if i sell my data to an empire station will it increase my rank there?

the asp is still going strong though despite the few binary stars ive jumped into xD

This is my main fear. I know a whole heap of people have headed corewards in the DWE. Still, the galaxy is a biiig place, doesn't make me any less worried about my precious first discoveries being Ninja'd :|

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm in a part of the galaxy you'd think was fairly well travelled, but I haven't seen another explorer's name for a month

I didn't want to follow the crowd to the core, bit too touristy now :) besides i went there some months back and i wanted to find my own little gems and judging by all the undiscovered systems near me no-one has ventured this way so it paid off, I've not seen a soul since i left the bubble but im glad i decided on a long jump range asp build, if only i could mine some jumponium for the journey back :)

Getting ready to head out into the void. The last time I was planning on making it all the way to the horsehead nebula but turned back when I stupidly lost my scarab on a desolate crash site that was protected by skimmers I didn't see until it was too late. Space madness set in and I came back.

I've reconfigured my Asp Explorer and now have a vehicle bay with 2 scarabs a detailed surface scanner and no cargo racks. Current at Q Velorum, my last civilized station before heading out through the "Goldilocks Zone" of the Galaxy to try and find more ELP's.

Wish me luck.

We don't have vehicle bays on the Xbox. Wrong part of the forum. PC Beelzebub get ye beyond here!

I'm going to the core in this majestic ship:

Now before anyone questions whether the cheese has slid off my cracker I assure you it hasn't. The "Core"vette has got a nice wide canopy to take in the scenery. The jump range isn't great, but I'm not planning crossing the gap between spiral arms, nor am I planning on going extremely north or south of the galactic plane. That's the only time you'd want a significant jump range in an exploration vessel.

I found this ship on the wiki page before E: D was announced for the XB1 and I decided then if I ever got Elite I wanted to fly this ship when it made into the game. I don't do a lot of combat but when I do I discovered some time ago that big ships don't suite my style. Now however I think I found a use for this ship that finally gives me an excuse to own and fly it.

It's purchased and ready for departure at Fuelum. I haven't decided yet when I'm leaving. It might be as early as this weekend it might not be until next weekend. But I want that achievement and hopefully I can check a few other things off my bucket list as well. I plan on posting updates and pics. Wish me luck, if my last exploration trip is any indication I'll need it to avoid "space madness" and flirting with the shiny red button.

You're not the first...

I'm so flippin' happy right now. [big grin]

Hey Congrats Stasis Wolf! Your name will now be cursed many times by those intrepid explorers - hoping to leave their name, their legacy on an item of such desire - jumping into the system, spotting the beauty, thrusting themselves towards the spherical object of untold promises, unloading their scanners to find that there is a little flag planted on top - with your face on it.

You have now ascended to a being to be envied by the budding explorer.
