Well i have to say for all this to boil down to PVP event is interesting, as mentioned above by L.S Algir those that have worked to solve the thing are kind of out of the comfort zones.

This is what i think will happen, the system will be one BIIIIG instance, everyone will be in it, once Salome turns up she will broadcast something in local for every one to read and possibly unlock all the Col 70 sector for us and give some cords to go to, then something big will show up and either disable everyone in one go and start talking to us or they will start shooting anyone close enough regardless of who they are and wipe them out including Salome, this will lead on to the next thing to unlock like a new core wide war or something like that or a run for your life situation.

I considered trying to get involved in the event -- it's a pretty big part of the story after all -- but after spending some time on Discord and etc, examining the groups involved and looking at their plans (at least the parts they are talking about), I realized how completely out of my element I would be.

I don't have a PVP ship. I have no PVP skills in ED. Explorers generally don't.

So my conclusion is that there is no place for me in the event, other than possibly as an observer. However, knowing how instancing works, I'd probably have nothing to observe even if I went out there.

So I will do my best to enjoy the story from the bleachers. There's no place on the field for me.

So I'm assuming from this, that none of this content will be available if you're a player who engages in Solo-mode only.?

Not likely - we just about broke the server in DWE (Distant Words Expedition) with 110 CMDRS's during the mass jump from Sag A*. We were told, in no uncertain terms, to not do it again.

I suspect this will have far more than 110 players that want to participate (as did DWE).

It would be quite funny if all those people with their engineered ships show up to save or destroy Salome only for one of the Hyperdiction ships to arrive and disable everyone's ships but Salome's specially engineered one and she takes off with it chasing her and we have to follow.

Probably not. In fact, if the event means interacting with Salome, it will be instanced and a lot of people won't be in the right instance to see anything, even if they are in the right place and playing in Open. I'd look at the event with measured expectations.

humm you have a good point there, but wasn't Merope a single instance at one point, how did they handle that? or did i dream that? :rolleyes:

After playing Eve for 10 years, I like the opportunity to now play in Solo mode, and with buy-back, there's no harm in playing open mode to participate in this event :)

Is there anyone out near the Zurara looking for Earth-likes? I'm thinking about visiting the ship, and might as well get some useful ELW and star data out there, but it would be good to know if anyone else is already doing this.

Just to clarify a few things that have been asked:

1) The event will be in open
2) 46 Eridani is the starting system
3) There are many ways to participate in the event - more details will be released in the coming days
4) PvP may or may not play a big or small part, if at all, or in total, maybe, sometimes :p

I'm currently in the bubble and going to head out there soon to do exactly that. Just hoping there actually are beacons out there to find. Did a lot of searching in EAFOTS a while back, but clearly that wasn't far enough out based on logs and location of the Zurara.

Or it is just a ruse from SDC. You know, all nice and quiet lambs to get near to Salomé and then, at some signal, they will unleash hell. :)

Theory: At 46 Eridani the commanders will get orders about what to fetch and then she will show us the hidden path through permit locked systems in to the heart of Col 70 sector.

Clue questions;
I have a hard time picturing how this event is going to go off or where it will be heading since "46 Eridani is the starting system". I also swear I read somewhere that the video clue and event was related to the bubble. If the answer to the puzzle is the name of the path of souls constellation and the sum from the 0-1 Fibonacci sequence then what does the rest of it mean? DB-IB, T-1319, To make an end is to make a beginning? WHO FILLS A CLUE WITH STUFF THAT ISN'T ACTUALLY A CLUE?!

Questions about the event itself:
Will we need wake scanners to follow Salome or will we get some sort of instructions on where to be by x time?
How much jump range will I need?
How will instancing be handled? What's to stop one wing or one guy in their own instance from just blasting her to pieces?

It was already confirmed weeks ago (By Drew) that the event is NOT a community goal.
This fact has been stated more than once on this thread (and various other threads and subreddits)


Please let's not confuse things even more with statements that have already been addressed and discounted.
