THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

So I’m a bit surprised on the lack of tinfoiling here.

All the Inra stuff and obvious tactical similarities to the Club and reasonable conclusion that they may be the legacy of them.

The fact that the Super Powers have all obviously been compromised as their own records don’t seem to match or contain historic data now being obtained, or does it?

Why we don’t have a condemnation of Inra from the Feds and can we believe the others.

How many people will die before the fleets built up will appear.

Do we have human controlled Thargoid tech out there and if so why are advances being kept from Aegis?

Is Aegis to be trusted, or either are they just the Club or a distraction from the Club with no real power?

Will we see colonies being set up in the Rift, Conflux and Gap now the danger is here?

Is there anything with the Guardians connected to this?

Is there anything in game to find on these points or influence these points? Or are we stuck in a CG cycle leading us down a predetermined path and timeline only?

Is there a way of getting into permit controlled areas outside the bubble and should we be searching for them?

Knowing that Salome made it into Col70 using old drives should we reconsider the Zurura as a tool to reclaim?

Do we have Club factions in or looking to get in to Colonia?

With so much of this being common knowledge now, why haven’t the Thargoids reacted to any of it?

And which Engineers if any can be trusted?

And that’s just the tinfoil that comes to my mind.

It's a very impressive list :D

The problem I have (and I suspect that a lot of people feel the same) is that there is a complete lack of engagement from FDev. The Rift was DrewW's story and through all the threads, we NEVER got any feedback from FDev (with the possible exception of asking us not to discuss the Teorge logs until the Salome event was done). Lots of people outside of the Rifters tried to investigate the Sirius connection, but got nothing in return. The INRA bases give backstory, but nothing else.

So, my feeling is, "What's the point?".

Premonition gave us the Thargoids and that's all FDev appear to care about these days. No wonder DrewW has moved in.

Teorge logs?

Yeah I wish FDev would at least confirm if the Dynasty ELW beacons were in game! I wouldn't even vaguely ask where!

The following is based on my vague understanding of how the Stellar Forge works, and could be completely erroneous:

System composition is stored as a seed value. Until somebody 'activates' that seed the composition is unknown. So in order for FDev to locate ELWs they'd have to visit each system to see if it contains an ELW - the same way that we do, though they could presumably just teleport rather than jumping. This would be time-consuming and may screw up the 'first discovered' mechanism. It's not like they could just run a database query.

Based on the above, I'd say that there are no beacons around ELWs. Just like there's no ELW at Zurara.

Teorge logs
They were the big reveal after Salome popped her clogs.

Well...Just like in any sandbox: to build your own sand castles... and to crush those of the others. :D

What I'd really love, is that Mr Waggar obliges us by explaining how the many clues he sooo kindly provided us about the FR mYsTeRy fit in the storyline.:O
IF...they do. [blah]
But he already told he has no time for this.

Oh I'm having loads of fun with my own personal mysteries, but FDev don't appear to have any interest in anything but the Thargoids, so I don't see much point in chasing after the loose ends they left in the Rift.

Surely things like UCBs would be hand placed items & nothing to do with stellar forge? In which case they'd know exactly where & how many their are, assuming they put them in, in the 1st place! :p

Crush the sand castles of others underfoot
and hear the wailing of their women?

You put up fair points, as always.
However, and in the same vein as Scytale, I would argue „why would we need FDev to provide feedback?“
Sure, it would be nice to have the interaction and the external validation. At the same time, we are quite capable of forging our own path, and creating out own part of the story. Tinfoiling, however, makes the most sense in my view when we are taking our cues from this expansive universe that has indeed been crafted by FDev (and by that I mean the backstory hints more than the - stellar forge and other - in-game assets).

There apppears to be plenty hidden in plain sight that has yet to be made sense of, like eg the decals on the outside of certain stations, the purpose of remote outposts on random moons inside the bubble, all the points posted by Harley above...

Not Palin:
  • Studying thargoid tech.
  • Mysteriously kidnapped by dark agency.
  • Amazingly found drifting in space in an escape pod.
  • Bizarrely infected with Cerberus plague.
  • Makes an incredibly rapid recovery.

Yeah he's just a regular guy.

That’s looking better.

For the game, I think the rift and Salome story generated more publicity and mass player interaction than anything else so I would hope FDev looked at this and decided to carry on with things. They meddled and approved Drew’s work into Cannon and it all still fits with what they released since so there is no disconnect from what they are doing now. That, the time already spent putting things in game and their commitment to publishing cannon stories gives me hope that they would continue but just like the rest of you I don’t know if anything is there so is it worth looking at?

Asking them for an indication that deeper game play than “oh look, something has happened, nice graphics, let’s deliver/shoot things” may not be a bad idea. What they are doing does look nice and is an interesting story but as it is that is a background story no player is part of. We only get to have limited reactions to that story.

If not being done I think it needs to be driven by us by trying to get them to do more. How is open to discussion but let’s do something.

While I run my own stories and goals in my head while playing, it is a missing element in the game that the story for a player isn’t enabled and there seems no way to influence major events or the main back ground story.

You would think with PMFs and the amount of effort people put into a BGS system that was never designed to be played that FDev would realise that players want to effect the sandbox. It’s good for the game, good for PR and sales, and good for keeping the player base engaged. So let’s tinfoil, try and find out if it’s worth doing it or not, and try to push for more if not already there.

Might be difficult within current game mechanics but let’s do something and try to push for more I say. If not all we will end up with is lots of sightseeing opportunities for a story we can’t really take part in.
