THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Hmm, seems that everybody is happy with the resurrection of the threat. But agreed: What to do with it? I have to admit that I never was am quite active part of this threat and as such my overview of "what are the loose ends" is very restricted. Summing up those loose ends IMHO would be a good restart...

Exactly what I'm here for! 😎

Clearly it needs to be shut down. Again. And reopened. Again. And shut down. Again. &c. &c.

Got to include "turning to 300 ....... Clear ...... aaaaand Restart" (think I may have watched too much ER!)

Seriously though, I loved this thread and it's predecessors, but the Frift mystery was happening then. I think Drew Wagar has tried to answer some of the loose-ends in various ways since, not least of which was his book "Premonition"

Loose ends? Beacons around ELWs & terraformables world systems mentioned, but none found (probably inactive & unfindable, if their actually in game).
Multiple ships wrecked (Anaconda's), none found.
1 ship's hyperdrive disabled, ship headed to ELW in system, no shipwreck found, nor habited system, or derelict base, (hmm seeing as we can't land on ELWs that option isn't viewable, but could be flagged by the FSS now as a human signal, maybe??).
1 sidewinder also headed to an ELW, no wreck found nor derelict base (see above).

Some Anaconda's managed to complete their missions without initially being killed off, but at least 1 was suffering serious intermittent equipment failure & is likely not have have made it back. At least 1 other conda (and possibly more, I can't remember) seemed in good shape & should have made it back, but I seem to recall something being said in Premonition (I think) about none of them getting back, with an implication they were stopped by hostile agents. Was TOW who said that?? I'll see if I can dig that out.....

Yep, it was TOW/Rebecca, from Premonition :-
‘So they sent out ships, lots of ships, looking for Earth-like worlds in
the far reaches of the galaxy. You know where, you’ve been there. When
they had that data they planned to kill the crews and bury the missions.
Some kind of suicide pact. No one was supposed to know. Some of those
poor souls managed to survive for a few years it seems, marooned in the
blackness, but none of them made it home. If you’re here you’ve probably
found what was left.
.

The message is from the Teorge listening posts.

But, with that said, I seriously can't see how 1 woman, even with many contacts, could know about the location of every single conda & its fate & the fate of every crew member, many could have chosen to come in the opposite side of the bubble to where they left, or somewhere 'quiet', come in under cover (especially if they recieved the transmission from the Zurara, which we know at least 1 did), go to an inde world on the edge of the bubble, sell the conda & disperse amongst the bubble, then keep quiet about the mission! They'd be nigh on impossible to find (assuming they kept away from previous family & friends!).

Btw, all (or at least many) old locked threads were unlocked when the they migrated the forum to this new one.

I assumed that Rebecca was flying as part of the Zurara's security forces. Hired gun.

WOW! Never thought I'd see this thread gaining traction again...

Having read the last few posts, debating Rebecca's involvement, my interpretation of the voice logs she left on the Zurara, compounded by the revelations she revealed in "premonition" was that Rebecca was once one of the agents of "the club", who grew a conscience and left, and has since been captured and hexedited many times. Then they ultimately ran out of patience with her and snuffed out her, and her cyborg friend, in Tionisla. As for her knowledge of every one of the conda's on the zurara / rift expedition? I deduced that since we know she has since boarded the zurara (how else could she leave voice logs on its data points?) she was able to access the communications logs, and we know from the logs from the crew of the Zurara that after they were sabotaged by their, to use a NASA term, "payload specialists", they reached out to other vessels in the area. From what I remember of the logs, they were very surprised to hear from the Zurara. That comms transcript stored in a terminal would give an intelligence operative with access enough of a seed of a breadcrumb trail to "find" the others.

It would maybe be worth revisiting the Zurara logs (via youtube/canonn, unless you really want to do a 20 kylie round trip to listen to them again?) to refresh our memories and see who's tinfoil closest matches the evidence?

We all know there is more. We all know the club is involved with current thargoid incursions. We all know there are things hidden behind permit locked systems. Problem is we have nothing to investigate or act on as currently we can only react to the narrative being given out.

Other than the ship over Palins old base I’m not aware of any leads to follow, so we all lurk and wait for things to change. 🤔

I've recently read "out of the darkness", and without going into spoilers, I can confirm that the club aren't the only ones consorting with and providing comfot to the enemy in this interspecies war. But alas, you are right, with current game mechanics, there is nothing I, you, we, or anyone can do about it.

Unless somebody in Out of the Darkness was working for the club, knowingly or otherwise
