The Formidine Rift - Part 2

So are 90% of the player base being excluded ? I thought that whatever is in the rift can be found now ! Or are we all wasting time .... Hmm
I think the Rift mystery is open to all. I think Salome is just setting up a tripwire warning system against the "great threat" that is coming - presumably from Bovomit sector? Perhaps the Rift mystery may shine a bit of light on what that is???

Hmmm so the CoR is turning into the CRows ... Dont forget your vows ...

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come

No need to be like that, I think we all want to know whats going on. Originally it was going to be through galnet but since galnet is once again not going as planned it looks like the narrative may be shifting to come through CoR. Which I think is awesome as I know you all will keep us in the loop (as seen by the post earlier) ... I think its mainly some confusion in general as to how the story will unfold and where we should look for clues.

And, indeed, Happy Canonn Day!

Happy Canonn day! Do we drape our UA's in colored lights and tinsel?

I think there was talk of that! I'm across the rift right now so I didn't pay much attention to the festivities back home... Also it would be awesome if there was a CG to build a CoR station out near the rift. Certainly sounds like a good CG to propose to FD.

The Rift is dark and full of terrors...

I'm not CoR, but certainly would love a station out there, can call it Manny's Bar n Grill, home of the Rifter, which is a special concoction only known to Manny.. ;)

Sounds awesome!
I imagine FD asking us where we want our shiny drive-in built and we say something like...Take it 10k away on the Sol Mars line than at the shiny crater take a sharp turn than just Right on!

And when they drop it somewhere we go like, Oh come on, that's a nice spot but I had something completely different in my mind! But you're getting better! Right on!

And than we do it a thousand times over.

I too would love to help build a station out that way. In case it helps, here are all the Earth-like worlds I discovered out that way on my last trip to the Rift:

STOCK 2 SECTOR DL-Y D17 6 "Daedalus"
Hypoae Aim NX-L d7-21 5 "Oasis"
Hypiae Aim KG-Y d0 4 "Abyssal"
Pha Airg NG-Y d11 4 "Icarus's Downfall"
NGC 7790 Sector FC-U d3-29 5 "Fate's Gamble"
Hegol VT-I d9-45 2 "Eternal"
Outott EI-M c7-2 A 5 "Taylor's World"

I didn't conduct any in-depth surveys of those systems for needed resources when I was out there, but I'm sure there would be plenty to be found on nearby HMC worlds and planetary ring systems. Also, I have no idea whether any worlds in those systems are Green Worlds for jumponium, but it may be worth a look for anyone who has a planetary landing suite installed.

Salomé is not equal to Palin.

Palin is an FD creation which has no actual connection to any player group, and who does not leak anything to anyone except on Galnet itself.

Everything we've done (and others) is purely in response to in-game events or Galnets because there's been no other choice.

Salome is an author-creation, created by an author who has specific knowledge about a mystery; and he gave her to a player group who have now been 'selected' to head out to be in just the right place?

Sorry - that's not inclusive.

Best thing that should be done regarding whatever this is is the same as with the Barnacle hint: a garbled message with a location in it that everyone is free to crack - not just those who've been told in advance to be in the right place straight away.

- I love the Rift mystery, I love what it could mean, but this isn't the way to do it for me.

However I genuinely wish well to everyone who follows it, and I hope everyone enjoys the ride, and that it's worth it in the end. I look forward to reading the story on Galnet!

Maybe there is now a new FD-approved choice. You know, evolving game and all that.

And you're assuming FD aren't involved? And this isn't happening without their OK if not direction? You do know what assume does, right? And wasn't everyone just told where to be?

Sounds like crying over spilled milk to me. Or spilled Rifters.

Why what's stopping you heading out if you think it's going to happen right now? Just checking what's non-inclusive about it

You're jumping to quite a few conclusions there Zoltan. The CoR faction don't know anything more than anybody else. They're only assigned to patrol a certain section of space. I'm pretty sure they're just being used as a story-telling instrument.
The 'border' they gotta patrol doesn't contain 'it' I'm pretty sure of that. This is just meant, as somebody else put it here, to add some gravitas to the story.
I'm sure this will play out just like the Barnacle story, with a hint that can be solved by anybody. Let's wait for more actual hints to be dropped before we jump to any conlusions I say.

This one has me laughing! Right on, Commander!
