The frustration in suit and weapon upgrade and customization

Different mods seem to enhance the suit and weapons while others are just lipstick on a pig.
I am learning to use the original design and adapt it for the way you use it.
On the first maverick suit I got lucky and it functioned rather well. But the Dominator I messed up by wasting a slot on tool battery enhancement.
Am I missing something or do all your suits have Melee Damage?

You'll find the lack of Anarchy settlements in Colonia quite disturbing.
Please expand. My alt CMDR is out there at the moment doing the engineer unlock (completed all 4) to upgrade suits and weapons. I take the missions that are available to obtain the required materials.

Lol, I told you that melee was a thing. (Edit : sorry not you, it was with someone else). In OD it's pretty strong compared to some other games.

Seriously speaking, I have it on my Dominator (PvP CZ oriented) for the last 4 CGs ... and I'm still not sure if it's a good idea, haha.

Dominator G5 : shield regen + dmg resist + combat movement + extra melee.

Melee is good for two things :
  • finish your opponent in tight PvP duel (never happened to me yet)
  • chaining more NPC kills with less ammo (I probably should do it more)
My feeling is that right now I don't use melee that much. But on the other hand I don't miss much the other mods neither.

Mine is the same, but i have NV instead of extra melee
Cool ! I'm personally not a huge fan of NV but I see most of experienced CMDRs using it. The problem is that it's better during ... night ... :)
I'm telling myself that I can compensate the lack of it with my game sense, haha.

By the way, I also use the Intimidator comp you suggested me : Mag Size + Range + Scope + HIP Acc. Thanks a lot, it works just like a charm (3 CGs already) 🙏

EDO added 400,000 settlements, you knocking the same settlement for 500th time is... well... a boring choice?
I'm not really a fan of the relogging game, but since you mentioned CS and LOL... isn't that like waiting in the lobby for a new match to start?

You haven't spent much time planet side have you?

There are around 2 dozen total facility layouts. I would say they are the same dozen building types tiled differently.

The difference is a match in LOL or CS takes 30-45 minutes. Not 30 seconds.

I'm not sure what you planned to accomplish with that post, other than getting people to doubt that you play this game, let alone any other.

😂 😂

Well... i know very well the settlement layouts and the buildings.
There is enough variance. Could be more? Sure

We have 38 ships. Could we get more variance? Sure
We have 3 Orbital Starports. Could we get... Well you know the drill already.

It's nice to get back to the game. Until you remember why you quit in the first place.

😂

My Steam account has all EDO bubble engineers unlocked, 4x g5 suits fully modded and 6x g5 fully modded weapons. Waiting for FD to fix blueprints pinup to take the Colonia trip
My Epic account has all EDO engineers unlocks, Colonia ones included. Less suits, but more weapons fully G5 and modded.

And since you mentioned LoL - well... i have 6000 hours in DOTA2

So yea... let me rephrase the leading to this spoiler: 🤣

Can I haz your free time? 😁

Well, upgrading from g1 to g5 for suits/weps is very similar how E vs A rated modules are, atleast the way I see it. Still for suits/weapons, only diffrence is that upgrading needs materials as well along of cost in credits, its again same reason, its cheap trick to force ppl play with limited content. And I dont mind it at all, cuz it actually makes use of those rather numerous list of odyssey thingies to find.

Besides, soon enough, materials gathering will be easier, as devs already have plans for makin it easier. Some of ideas are nice, and it will certainly help with getting fully G5 and modded stuff, both for ships and equipment. But u need wait probly some time for tha.
Have they started the On Foot engineering thread yet or are you referring to the ship based engineering thread?

I just bought Odyssey this Black Friday to have an experience of how bad it can be.

The FPS is bad especially the moment of disembark and in combat (which is the selling point). Guns are meh, and I don't understand why I need a suppressor when there's no atmosphere for sound to transfer energy. The conflict zone is too big for 12v12 while no operational SRV can be deployed along the drop ship or ready on the ground. Also to much empty space that need a vehicle to cover the distance. Too much reliance on the Maverick suit thus make it become the everyday suit.

All of these I can tolerate despite I said so many things because these can be updated/patched in a later point. The thing I can't tolerate is about the suit and weapon customization and engineering part.

FDev makes suit and weapon engineering mandatory. You can't better suit/weapon because there isn't a grade system in there anymore. Nowadays in firearms in real life we talks about molecularity which you can put scopes, lasers, grips, muzzle attachments how ever you want. I want a bigger mag why I can't just slap one on? And yet in 3306 we take a huge step backward to the age of muskets and cannons?! If I want a bigger backpack why I can't just carry one? Or I need an engineer to help me put on a backpack? It also breaks the seeming philosophy of equipment upgrades exists in Horizons: you purchase a bare bone, basic equipment like the ship. It will work but not the optimal state. Then you spent credits on different modules to upgrade it. You can further enhance it with engineering which is a mechanism in end of normal progress that enhances equipment and brings performance upgrade with drawbacks and specializations to an equipment.

I believe it is not a game designer fault, but a management one. I'm 80% sure someone force the designing team to make this. And for sure I will give Odyssey a negative review on Steam solely one this. 30 buck down in the drain.
Welcome to our world, friend.
