Yeah, I passed through it but can't recall scanning anything as it was a very diffuse and small nebula in gamma and not very interesting at all. All the nebula since then have been layered with more dust and texture and look far better so I'm pretty sure others will have been out there now and explored it. Still, if its not far from you it could be worth a look?

By the way, a tiny detail ... could you change the yellow text to a darker colour in the first post? I literally can't read it on my screen, it's too similar to the background ... and this is a thread I really want to be able to read easily!

Changed the POI headings to dark orange... let me know if that's any better.
Ok, here's my entry for NGC 7822, "the O-Star nebula". It's located about 2700 Ly from inhabited space and features about 40 systems named S171 XX. More info in the spoilers below.
Well worth a visit IMHO
Each one has a main O-Star and usually has other stars and/or black hole companions. The maximum being 3 black holes in S171 09 and 17 stars in S171 43. Lots of metal-rich planets too
It looks great close up (see screenshot) and intrigued me from far away because is looks like a big star with a halo that slowly resolves to a nebula crossed by a band of bright blue stars as you approach.
And a typical star system of that region
(check out the radar, so many stars !)

Cheers Nid, that's definitely one of the more impressive clusters in the game, but NGC 7822 is a real life place, and one that was inputted by FD. The POIs we're looking to change are the procedurally generated ones with the procedural names.
Also that cluster is already included within the Sadr Region entry. There's a lot of stuff in those sectors (too much to label separately), so they're currently all referenced under SADR. If the maps get too saturated with data I'll re-create them at different scales to fit more entries on.

I think that cluster you're heading to could be the NGC 3293 Open Cluster. I passed through there during Gamma on the way to Eta Carina, but most of the stuff I surveyed on that trip was wiped at xmas due to a corrupted save so if no one else has been there you could tag the lot and claim the bonus payments

Thing is, on the galaxy map, the Jewel Box covers a MUCH larger area, and this cluster is a smaller and more visible sub-set within it, so maybe it could get its own designation, like the Queen's Necklace or something (inside the jewel box
). I say that because you'll notice one orange star standing out among the blue - that's a massive red giant, so it's like ruby on the necklace's centerpiece. View attachment 18024
I wasn't the first here - Princess Luna beat me to it, but was in a rush and only scanned few of the stars along the way (that's her mark on the giant). I scanned far more... hopefully I'll get back in time for the claims to count.
