Did you know about that and go looking for it or stumble upon a non-proc gen name way out there and wonder what it was all about?

Name :Beta Hydrae
Game map search ref. :Beta Hydrae
Description :Beta Hydrae contains a binary blackhole/neutron star as well as a giant B star. As a bonus, it is not too far from Sol (309.74 Ly)

Did you know about that and go looking for it or stumble upon a non-proc gen name way out there and wonder what it was all about?

I knew about it since a bit before 2.1, from reading about the real-world version (which apparently is likely a planetary nebula, sadly not represented as such in-game!)
I had my eye on it since it was a "real" star that I knew the usual suspects couldn't already have nabbed, due to the need for 90Ly+ jumps. :D

With the introduction of the new POI categories we no longer have a separate "Stellar Remnant" category.

Most POIs in this category where also planetary nebulae and has been moved to that category instead:

Athaip Wisteria Nebula
Binary Nebula
'Blink Of An Eye' Remnant
Blood Nebula
Byoomao Blue Remnant
Dryao Chrea Stellar Remnant
Emerald Remnant
Eok Bluae Stellar Remnant
Green Crystal Stellar Remnant
Hypio Orb Nebula
The Lesser Athaip Nebula
Northern Lazur Remnant
Osprey Stellar Remnant
Turquoise Wind Stellar Remnant

A few others where moved to the "Surface Features" category:

Teiwaz
Thana's Wasteland

The Galactic Byway

The information on "green" systems along the Distant Worlds route has been added to the galactic map. Behold the galactic highway:
May I be so bold to propose to add one other green system?

It is a green system near where Cmdr Frawd Digger and yours truly have crossed over from the Scutum Centaurus arm to the Sagittarius Carina arm (and probably other small jump-range ships). You could call it "the galactic byway" as this a good spot for ships with a small jump range to cross the gap between these arms before it becomes the Abyss. It is a very convenient spot to collect materials before continuing towards Beagle Point, as ships with a somewhat smaller jump range might need to apply jumponium a little bit sooner...

I am currently in that system collecting materials for the remainder of the trip to Beagle Point.

Please do :)

System added as the Teleki Carina Depot ('The Galactic Byway'). In general we try to name the jumponium-rich systems after existing prominent POIs in their vicinity :)

The mapping team has done a revision of all current POIs in the mapping project (500+) in order to check for inconsistensies and to make sure everything is placed under a fitting marker. As described in the OP we have introduced some new categories ("stellar features", "planetary features") and removed some obsolete ones ("stellar remnant"). The category previously known as "Minor POI" has been mostly emptied by these changes and will in the future simply be a category for "Other POI" (anything that doesn fit into any of our other categories).

This has lead to the following change of category for various POIs:

Beacons:
A general note on Beacons - we will aim to keep the numbers of beacons down. To qualify as a beacon system, it must be a system that is in fact really helpful for navigational purposes.

CoR Listening Post 'Alpha' -> Historical
CoR Listening Post 'Beta' -> Historical

Exark Beacon -> deleted

Ishum´s Reach -> Historical

Lucida Hyacintho -> deleted

Repositus Beacon -> deleted
Roncevaux Crossing -> Historical
Rutchao Beacon: deleted

Shackleton´s Star -> Historical

The Four Muses -> Stellar features
The Svenno Crossing -> Historical

Will-o'-Wisp -> Other POI

Nebula:

Barnards Loop -> Beacon

Black holes:

IC 1805 Ejecta Nebula (& Cluster) -> Planetary nebula

A greeting.

In the spirit of the mapping project is up to you as the discoverer to suggest a name and a short description for each of these nebulae (see OP for naming conventions) :)

The problem is I didn't prospect planets fully always
And some system map data I can still complete

I will add these later today or tomorrow :)

I appreciate the opportunity, but I lack imagination to name each, I was thinking a while, but ... nothing.

If you see it necessary I can put the system catches.

Hi CMDRs,

I was at Sagittarius A* before the beginning of the August Exodus. So I've decided to join it, even if I'm not starting from the bubble.
I've chosen to reach the station by the most direct itinerary, that is to say a distance of 11k LY. This itinerary is likely to be chosen by many from the future new bubble to reach Sagittarius A*. However there is an exploration hazard at around 3k LY from the black hole : a big pocket of unscoopable stars. Explorers are likely to encounter 4 unscoopable stars in a row in this area.

- Here are the coords : -2740:-25:23.920
- The name of a system right in the middle of the pocket :ZUNOAE PV-X C14-6370.
- A link showing where is the hazard : http://imgur.com/QsyY58L

N.B : I have to precise that there is an other difficulty : itineraries are hard to plot because of the location which is near the core. These two hazards combined make the place even more dangerous, hence my post in this thread.
