The Galactic Mapping Project & Historical Archive of Exploration

Just want to report that i am on the tourist beacon "Grand Rings" on system Cheae Euq ER-L c21-0 and i cannot see the rings of the gas giant on this spot, allthough this planet is tidally locked.

So i dont see this:

Maybe wrong coordinates on the beacon's placement..

In fact on further review, the only coordinates given on the EDSM page for Grand Rings, are for the Sub-POI i discovered, the geysers. Were you there ?

Yes, first i landed on the geysers where i found them and the rings was also spectacular from there, allthough the geysers were not spitting anything. Then afterwards i went to the tourist beacon but no rings there. Yes the only coordinates given on EDSM are for the geysers place, because the other site has a beacon :).

Fantastic picture ! So good to see the place again :) especially from a fellow explorer's perpsective. I think the beacon is broken as explained by the EDSM page, for some reason, the beacon is like 1000km below the surface of the planet.

The picture provided by Rojo Habe didnt come with coordinates, but if you just fly toward the rings from the geysers, you will come across scenes similar to Rojo's. Here is one of mine from a location very close to Diamond Geysers.

Nice photo!

The beacon is on the surface, just in the wrong place:

Moon Orbiting extremely close to the parent gas giants rings. Orbit is so close that the rings edge reaches beyond the orbital cruise distance of the moon. Aside from the mountains and canyons that are abundant on the moon there are even supposed to be silicate vapour geysers, but I wasn't able to locate any of them.

This is an addendum to the entry on the Dryman permit-locked region. The current entry has no detail on the surrounding region and no image, something that can now be rectified thanks to the Aronnax Expedition. I chose an image that gives a view across the Galactic Plane with one of the visual highlights of the visit in the foreground, so as to give an idea as to the region's location near the edge of the Scutum-Centaurus Arm.

Dryman border summary, from the Aronnax Expedition
Map Ref: Eol Pruae KT-O d7-79

The Aronnax Expedition reached the vicinity of the permit-locked Dryman sector on 28th December 3303 and spent a week surveying the region for signs of spacefaring activity, as well as outdoor worlds and systems with all the materials needed for FSD boosting ('green' systems). An excellent location for a 'Forward Base' was found: Eol Pruae KT-O d7-79 hosts an Earth-like World that is in a trinary configuration with two ringed gas giants which are in a circumbinary orbit about the system's two stars; the system is green with high abundances of some materials and there are also six worlds here with volcanism and surface temperatures compatible with organic structures. High abundances of Polonium were found to be more common than expected in this region and an unusual number of moons in close but inclined orbits provide some scenery that bodes well for future tourism. Full details can be found in the expedition journal: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...x-Expedition?p=6271501&viewfull=1#post6271501

The discovery of Guardian ruins within the Prai Hypoo AA-A H60 nebula has made me aware of the fact that this nebula has not been named and submitted to the GMP.

So this one is up for grabs, people :). Who can provide a cool screenshot of the nebula and come up with a good name?

Guardians Hideout ? :)

It has typical shape, so what about photo like this from Prai Hypoo QC-C d20

Thanks for the image! But 'Guardians Hideout Nebula' gets a little long...

If no one else has a suggestion I would propose the name for the Prai Hypoo nebula to be "Àrsaidh Nebula" (Ancients Nebula) - to use part of the names suggested earlier by FilmExile (post #2429 and #2430). I was not able to use these names as suggested, as the Guardian sites they pointed to where located in other nebulae already named.

Map update completed: post #2429 - 2498

Added:
- Guardian ruins - Àrsaidh Nebula sites <-- please note that these are the ones in the Prai Hypoo sector...

- Guardian ruins - NGC 3199 sites
- Guardian ruins - Eta Carina sites
- Guardian ruins - Teal Nebula sites
- Split Nucleus
- Canna´s Comet
- The Cauldron of Life
- Gardens of the galaxy <-- Binary Earthlike are not that rare, but we had no Planetary POIs listed in the Gallipolis Region, so I allowed this one :)
- Abyssinal Hope Depot <-- We are accepting green systems again, but only in areas of the map where we currently have none allready.
- Bovine Depot
- Blazing Rapids <-- Might not be the most unusual type of system, but the first of its type submitted to the GMP, and also visually spectacular
- Flaming Fracture
- Ripley Harbor
- Ravenfield Patch
- Verdant Nebula <-- Renamed from Emerald Nebula to avoid confusion with an existing POI
- Twin Stars
- Dryman-Centaurus Depot
- Marta's Pulsars
- Amaethon Nebula
- Toccata and Fugue Nebula
- Rings Shore
- Restless Vikings hideout
- Àrsaidh Nebula
- Ahemait <-- post #2494
- Dumbo Remnant <-- post #2495a
- Pharao Orb Remnant <-- post #2495b

Updated:
- Baton´s Geyser
- Dryman (Restricted Sector) <-- Updated with info from the Aronnax Expedition

Pending:
- WEPAE AA-A H2 C/D/E #2440 <-- please suggest a name
- Geysers in cyoidai od-i d10-4 #2445 <-- please suggest a name
- Wepaa KM-V E2-7132 #2498 <-- I ran out of ideas for names...

Not added:
- An Àite Uaine #2462 <-- not sure the coloration of the moon is that unusual
