The game is looking a lot like my commute to work

Whenever we dock at a station we are reminded to yield to larger vessels, right? So I'm leaving a station in my Beluga, carefully lining up so I don't scratch the lovely paintjob, and a Cobra bumps my tailfin as it enters the station. I chuckle a bit, knowing my shield would prevent any damage to my ship, but then I receive a fine of 150cr for dangerous flying?! Really? He hit me, but I get the fine? This causes the exact stress and frustration as dealing with the real idiots on the road on my way to work each morning.

I sincerely want a decal pack for my ships with a Gadsden flag (Don't Tread on Me rattlesnake on the yellow background) because the injustice of this makes me go all Libertarian. OK, maybe I am over-dramatizing a bit. ;) But I really would like a Gadsden decal for my ships.

Some traffic flow management would be nice.

Both NPCs arriving and departing are currently virtually oblivious to arriving or departing Player Vessels (only during arrival, an active Docking Computer provides deconfliction and flow management with NPCs).
Can't remember how often I waited nicely in my Cutter/Beluga etc. above my Pad - patiently waiting for an Opportunity to depart... only to see an arriving NPC attempt to fly straight through my Ship.
Only to be greeted by the usual ATC : "Attention Commander! Reckless flying will not be tolerated! Fly safely."

I be like.... Roger ATC... I'll forward your Message to that idiot NPC who's apparently flying blindfolded.

To make things worse, a 1000ton Ship inside a Station isn't exactly capable to dodge a 99m/sec NPC suddenly aiming straight it.
Being <100m/sec avoids the fines - but it still feels totally bugged.

There's alot of room for improvement.
If our 21th century Airports would operate like our imaginary 34th century Stations... holy hell, we'd have a bloodbath everyday. Noone in their sane mind would ever board a commercial Aircraft :D

Friendly reminder....NPCs never yield to YOUR larger vessel. When I fly the Beluga i get hit maybe 50% of the time. I just try to go within the speed limit (70-80) and watch for incoming ships on the radar. But even that doesn't help. NPCs will come off their pads right on top of my ship. Like they have no clue a giant space yacht is sitting right above them.

I hate that. Anymore I just keep it at 90 something and head out. I love it when they cut in front of me just before the mailslot. I don't slow down in the iCutter. Tired of it. Fun to run them over as long as you are not speeding. Nice how they show up outside the slot heading in just as you are too close to alter the course of something like a Cutter. Personally, I hope when they clip me they blow up. It has happened in the past and I now make sure to keep it just under 100.

Fly with sharp elbows Cmdr's, the NPC's need a spanking.

With my and I believe many Commanders experiences of the NPC Belugas; it is my belief that ALL Belugas should be find each and every time, they pass through the mail slot.

They need a buff... a remote destruct switch. They are the worst offenders.

Here's a thought, this is on purpose to catch out speeding. Does a fine generate when you get bumped and not speeding?

Whatever the reason, these fines are happening to me more often.

Well, lately my experience has been that if you are not speeding you don't get the fine. I have noted that after exiting the security forces mill about in such a way that it seems like you say to "catch you out". I wait for the waters to part and then hit the boost when they can't dart in front of me. No fines as of late. Anecdotal, but seems to be working for me. I still bump and grind quite a bit in the station.

No fines if you are under 100ms; they just warn you about your flying.

Happening more often? Only since they added the Belugas.

You can borrow my Gadsden flag Commander.

The pic was taken right after I put up my shiny new 25' flagpole so it's brand spanking new.

Actually, I try to follow the laws almost all of the time, at least some. I never speed in the dock, and keep it under 100 until I'm clear of the slot heading out, before goosing it to the jump point. Then all I have to worry about are the kamikaze security ships swooping across my bow.

So, yes, I am being fined for reckless flying in the dock while under the speed limit all because some jackwhang NPC pilot hit me.

o7 Commander. I have one that I like to fly when I want to scare the neighbors. ;)

It happens. I was leaving a spaceport the other day and some total idiot flies straight across the nose of my ship. And I got pinged for bad flying and a fine.

This causes the exact stress and frustration as dealing with the real idiots on the road on my way to work each morning.

........... and I thought the worst, most incompetent and inconsiderate drivers I'd ever come across were in my part of the world.........

NPCs also appear to travel more than 100m/s when leaving/docking. Although I like to immerse myself into ED and think that the station is saying to NPCs what they say to us regarding reckless flying, some appearance of fairness would be nice imo. Besides, how difficult would it be to ensure NPCs (and only NPCs) adhere to a holding pattern when NPCs and players request to dock/launch? :)

In an ideal universe, we would have a proper ATC that we and the NPCs obey (the current ATC just talks garbage like "you are clear to leave the station" just as a Beluga is coming through the slot). There would be clear traffic lanes and if you wandered out of your traffic lane, both in and out of the station while within the No Fire Zone, you will receive a fine. If you hit someone you are fined, not the person being hit (an analysis of the ship trajectories should determine who caused the collision).

Sadly, FDev seem to believe this to be low priority despite it being a rather fundamental game mechanic...

The way is clear Cmdr... [haha] another little joke FDev like to play on us. I'm beginning to believe that it takes a particularly twisted and sadistic mindset to work for FDev...

And just what is the political symbolism of the Gadsden flag these days?

Not being from the US, I had thought it was something appropriated by Tea Party activists and the like, a bit like the Confederate flag.
