The game stops working

I've had this happen a few times over the last few days now (around 10 times or so). I'm playing the game and it just stops working, no crash report pops up or anything. One second I'm in the game, the next second I'm back at my desktop and the game is just gone. I've never experienced this befor the last few days and it's extremly annoying... I've had crashes befor, but then I always had a crashreport pop up. This time, nothing.

Another problem I have thats been with me since I started playing the game is that my PC turns into a potato after I exit the game (doesn't matter if I exit by choise or if the game crashes). Befor and during playing the game the PC runs fine, no problems at all. I can have several tabs up, watch the forum, discord, youtube etc, but as soon as I exit the game nothing works anymore. Everything becomes extremly sluggish (reloading an internet site or starting a new site/program takes several minutes). + it's impossible to start up planet zoo again. I just get the steam message "starting up planet zoo" but nothing happens at all after that.
The only way of fixing this potato pc problem is by restarting the pc, then everything works fine again (wich means these crashes are extra annoying, cus I have to restart my pv every time!). Does anyone else have this problem and/or knows how to fix it?

In terms of your PC turning sluggish when the game crashes, open the task manager and see if somehow PZ is still running in the background. Alternatively, check your computer's cooling fans - they may need a quick dust off (this might also be why the game is crashing at all, if it isn't an actual bug, which it might be).

Beyond that, not sure how to help. I'm by no means a computer guy.

The obvious first tries should be verifying your steam files, a re-install of the game or even steam itself.

Hmm that might be it, cus when i restart my PC it says Steam is still running, even thou I turned it off. I don't think dust is an issue, as it works fine after the reset and it's only after I exit this game that the problem occurs (I can play and exit other games without any problem at all)

I have verified the steam files. Hmm, don't you loose your zoo's if you reinstall the game? I don't dare risk it :(

I don't think so, but I haven't tried it yet myself - all savefiles are in the folder so you (in theory) you can just copy them.

But I understand, maybe someone can clear things up.

Maybe your anti-virus is causing issues somehow?

It happens sometimes with games but making your Planet Zoo gamefolder an exception might work?
Seen this solution on steam a couple of times for different games. Maybe the update triggered something ??

But if it was the antivirus, should that just stop the game from starting up? Cus I can start the game just fine, it just crashes completly random, sometimes after just a few minutes, sometimes after an hour :( Have to save constantly now since the game keeps crashing (had 5 crashes so far today -.- )

When it comes to the PC beeing sluggish I figured it have something to do with steam. After the game crashes and I can't get it to run again, I figured I just have to try and start the game, then press "exit steam" and then try again and it works fine. But the crashes are becoming really really annoying :(

Not always.. That's why anti-virus exception is mentioned as an option as well.
It's a pretty harmless action if you only do it for PZ - some issues just resolve themselves.

Did you recently update your video driver? or is there a new option available?

Don't you think there might be a issue with some hardware?

Sounds like memory isn't freed up after you close the game.

there was also a new nvidia-driver-update recently.

I will check if there are any updates and if those fix the problem with the crashes. But since the crashes started just after the most resent Planet zoo update, I suspect it has something to do with that, as new updates usually results in bugs and crashes for some people :/

Not sure what that could be, cus the sluggishness isn't a new problem, it's been there from the start when i first bought the game. And the PC was brand new at that point, at most 2-3 months old

A similar issue has already been posted, essentially this can all be grouped with "sluggish performance on high end hardware"

Hey, did you create a report on the issue tracker? I'd like to contribute to it as the same thing happened to my bf.

I started making one yesterday, but since i didn't know what OS ment I never finished it. And I haven't had any crashes since yesterday afternoon. If I get another crash i will do it :)
