The great big Odyssey Screenshots thread

Went SRV driving in the SRV Challenge Scenario.

The bad news - the handling characteristics of the SRV have been changed - for the worse imho!

The good news, the new rock scatter system is extraordinarily good!

did you happen to try the "recall ship" command? ;)

I haven't seen any images from the inside of an orbital outpost yet, only big stations and ground based settlements.
Is there an outpost in the alpha system? If so could someone take a few screenshots please. I'd like to see what the windows look out onto.

I will grab some as I wanted to go back and do some filming at one.

So, I have been making a habit of just visiting places, no missions, just drop in, walk around, pick up stuff opportunistically and walk back to the shuttle landing pad. This time it didn't work, the guards wandering around had blue glowing force fields, they took one look at me on the landing pad and opened fire, so off I ran into the rather hot desert. This is something I have been meaning to do for a while, see how the planetary tech holds up from close up, it still has many LOD distance issues of course, but lets see what a closer look gets us. It's quite flattish here so I aimed for the biggest thing I could see;

I climbed to the top and had a good look around, remarkably this particular rock was the only one of it's type, nothing repeated like we are used to seeing, a bit of the view;

There was lots of smoke type stuff in the distance, and my heat warning started getting a bit insistent when I climbed the rock, no shade up there;

So I headed for the smoke hoping wildly that I had stumbled across some vulcanism, no such luck, the thin atmosphere was just about thick enough to sustain small dust clouds that hung around. Here's another unique formation;

It eventually occurred to me I had two choices, make my way back to the settlement, by now I had no idea where it was, or see if the shuttle service could pick me up from anywhere on the planet, hang on, three choices, the third being dead of course. Well it worked, here's the shuttle in the middle of rocky desert ready to fly me home;

All in all I am very impressed with the current landscape, it is much better than I expected from the initial post that the landscape tech hadn't been fully implemented, it appeared a unique landscape without those annoying repeat rocks everywhere, I can't wait to see it in the final release!

Magnetic boots?
Zero G would mean everyone floats around and you're drink wouldn't stay in your cup lol.

In my roll playing mind, we have artificial gravity so you can walk around like normal.

Magnetic boots keep your feet on the floor, or the wall and ceiling if they are metal as well, as for the drinks, well gotta cut em some slack, they didn't want to change all the models to sippy cups! No AG in ED, none at all, never has been!

It is, you get the message that the magnetic boots are activated.
Ok, but...

...Exactly this. Without some 'artificial gravity', hair, drinks, objects, banners, etc. will not be behaving like they do in the pictures - ie. normally - even if the people are 'mag-booted' to the floor.

I know it's difficult do do zero-g well - I play Hardspace: Ship Breakers, and the main reason they don't have multi-player is the difficulty in animating the avatars to be seen in 'third person'.

'Mag-Boots' only goes so far with the suspension of disbelief - Given that we have space folding technology in our spaceships, I honestly find it easier to role-play having (limited) artificial gravity for certain areas inside outposts - Spin gravity still being the most power efficient suitable for large spaces ('proper' stations).
