The great big Odyssey Screenshots thread

"I rule them all"
I think this abomination of hill is even more bizarre:
I named it: "Peak of EDO geometry issues"

these textures are so ugly.. lots of rocky planets like this. dotted carpets and so on.
True.
This is why I don't land on any planet, just the ones that seem to have some interesting features.
You can predict it roughly on planetary view in system map, and more precisely on landing approach, in planetary orbit.
I break the the approach and try another planet if I see it's not worth it.

F12? It's F10 for me. HiRes is Alt-F10, but it only works in Solo. Also, check if you have Nvidia stuff running as it reserves Alt-F10 for saving videos.

Oh, about that :
I was wondering how my rig will handle this "sophisticated" atmospheric planet in "all ultramax" settings
(ultraforcapture terrain. ultra shadows & volumetric effects etc.)

in a dynamic activity like canyoning.

I think result is pretty OK, there were momentary fps drops but nothing that could kill me
(aside from my "skill" of course).
EDIT: I noticed video is stuttering when watched in browser on my office laptop,
if you really want to know how fluent gameplay was,
you need to download it with some YT downloaded.

So, I know that RTS 2070s and i7-10700K are
way beyond recommended hardware, but it's not the top end hardware:
RTX 3090 is TWICE as fast as my card!

This video proves "ultraforcapture" is NOT a theoretical, redundant option that makes game "literally unplayable" anymore.

Disclaimer:
I know this is not a "real", tight canyon,
I don't do any canyoning at all,
so don't laugh and don't "pffff... NOW TRY WITH FA OFF" me ;)
I just desperately tried to not blow up my clumsy exploring ship "for science".

Thanks, it's really good to see this all in motion!

What kind of FPS were you getting?

Resize+sharpenning in Рнotoshop?
No, I only use Photoshop to paste the screenshots from my clipboard. This is how I see the game while I play, I always play Elite with Reshade since many years, for me it's a basic element of Elite already. Basically I add some adaptive sharpening and Chromatic Aberration to my taste. It worked great in Horizons boosting terrrain detail and it works as well in Odyssey. I prefer it over the Nvidia sharpening because I have more control over the results. I can post my reshade profile if anybody wants it. The results look even more crisp before the jpg compression to keep the images under 1Mb
