The great big Odyssey Screenshots thread

F12? It's F10 for me. HiRes is Alt-F10, but it only works in Solo. Also, check if you have Nvidia stuff running as it reserves Alt-F10 for saving videos.

Oh, about that :
I was wondering how my rig will handle this "sophisticated" atmospheric planet in "all ultramax" settings
(ultraforcapture terrain. ultra shadows & volumetric effects etc.)

in a dynamic activity like canyoning.

I think result is pretty OK, there were momentary fps drops but nothing that could kill me
(aside from my "skill" of course).
EDIT: I noticed video is stuttering when watched in browser on my office laptop,
if you really want to know how fluent gameplay was,
you need to download it with some YT downloaded.

So, I know that RTS 2070s and i7-10700K are
way beyond recommended hardware, but it's not the top end hardware:
RTX 3090 is TWICE as fast as my card!

This video proves "ultraforcapture" is NOT a theoretical, redundant option that makes game "literally unplayable" anymore.

Disclaimer:
I know this is not a "real", tight canyon,
I don't do any canyoning at all,
so don't laugh and don't "pffff... NOW TRY WITH FA OFF" me ;)
I just desperately tried to not blow up my clumsy exploring ship "for science".

Thanks, it's really good to see this all in motion!

What kind of FPS were you getting?

Resize+sharpenning in Рнotoshop?
No, I only use Photoshop to paste the screenshots from my clipboard. This is how I see the game while I play, I always play Elite with Reshade since many years, for me it's a basic element of Elite already. Basically I add some adaptive sharpening and Chromatic Aberration to my taste. It worked great in Horizons boosting terrrain detail and it works as well in Odyssey. I prefer it over the Nvidia sharpening because I have more control over the results. I can post my reshade profile if anybody wants it. The results look even more crisp before the jpg compression to keep the images under 1Mb

Today started off well...

We did a lot of driving. This planet has a lot of small sized canyons, particularly suited to SRVs.

We collected our Flora samples and then looked to the skies once more.

And then we discovered an issue with our scanners. This planet was supposed to have silicate vapour geysers, but instead found iron lava spouts. While this would usually not be a problem, we have already surveyed this particular phenomena.

We took the SLF out for a spin to confirm the issue over a larger area quickly. There were some spectacular vents - inactive at the time - scattered over the surface, and a couple of very large caldera, but no geysers.

Whilst it is spectacular out here, we feel that we have little choice but to return back to civilized space to report the issue, have our equipment checked, and hand in our current batch of data.

We intend to take some time to upgrade the Artemis suit for endurance. Hopefully by the time we are finished, the grease monkeys will have a fix for our scanner issues and we can once more head out into the black.

CMDR Sheehy signing off. See you in the black!

I think eye and hair color are actually the same. She's just standing closer to the light source. The facial bone structure is similar, but eye shape, eye distance, and eyebrow angles are different. The nose seems to be the same, but hers is smaller. Her neck is wider. I did have the same hairstyle for a while. I took the photo because someone recently told me that one of the new engineers looks like me. But apparently she looks more like a distant cousin than a clone. ;)
Her bone structure is not the same for sure too. Miles different. Its like comparing apples to pears.

Quick stop at a tourist site before heading off in the black:

From the orbit it looked like steppes/grasslands on a mostly desert planet.

Beautiful orbital view from a ringed atmospheric planet and it's polar cap.

Some other alien landscapes, I'm probably imagining it but stuff seems to get weirder the further out:
