Yeah, surfaces are great IMO. Good mix of open space, hilly landscapes, and truly harsh terrain depending on the planet and region.
It's hard to drive the SRV some places, sure. But so it should be, now we have another locomotion option (Shank's pony).
Outstanding little game isn't it? I sure wish those sort of salvage mechanics would make their way into games like Elite, X4, SC...
Well, this guy might have survived long enough for his rescue IF he was wearing more than a straw hat. Yea, the planet had an atmosphere, but not breathable and not very dense.
