The Great ELW Fishing Expedition

My ratio dropped to 1 in 47 after surveying 547 systems in this boxel....

Have others found the FSS scanner inaccurate sometimes? The last pic kept denoting I had found a rocky ice world until I hovered and listened. This isn't the first time I have found this problem. Hope I haven't missed any ELW finds by rushing.
I have not noticed it with ELW's but the occasional mix up with Ammonia and WW's.

Me neither. I got the occasional mixups with AWs/WWs too, but none with ELWs so far...

Anyways, after RL stuff held me back from hunting all week, I got back into my seat yesterday, and found my first Double ELW of this tour. :) Directly decided to stop by and start a little survey of that boxel. :)

I have found that sometimes the FSS displays something different on the bottom before you zoom in. I suspect this is because there is a small fudge factor allowing you to not have to be totally accurate with your tuning, and therefore are able to scan systems quicker than if that were not the case. The body type after zooming in is always correct, from what I have encountered.

The boxel I'm in right now seems to be pretty nice to me. So far 50 (of roughly 1100) systems scanned, and so far, 3 ELWs discovered in it, bumping my overall ELW hit rate on the tour up to roughly 1 in 85 as of now. A pretty good quote, considering that I do not filter out any star classes... :)

After more than 2000 systems visited, I left my previous boxel to see something else. Hopped vertically upward, checked out some boxels on the way, and am now at +1000kly from the galactic plane. That means that I now have plenty of irregulars like White Dwarfs and Neutron Stars and a bunch of M and K giants in the mix. Not necessarily good for the ELW hunt, but maybe I find something unusual...
Picked up a few on the way:

Currently I take a little break and sink some ships in Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts - thought that I clean up my last finds. The last one followed a stretch of 321 jumps with no hit, which puts the score for this boxel (UV-K) at 3 in 391. But not really surprising, as I visited a lot of Netron Stars and White Dwarfs...
